They're relatively popular so you might have had downloaded it before already, but if you haven't, I think they're worth a shot.

The first photo was taken with the front camera so pardon the
blurriness. MeituPic, better known as 美图秀秀 is an application that works
specifically well for selfies. It has dozens of filters, the ability to
sharpen and crop an image, as well as selfie-specific functions such as
manually removing acne (similar to Photoshop healing brush), eyebags,
enlarging eyes and a tool similar to Photoshop liquify.

There's
also special effects such as bokeh and sparkle brushes as well, but you
can't adjust the brush size like the rest of the tools so it's easy to
overdo the effect like I have below.

My only complaint about the app is that it downsizes the photo when it's edited and every round of editing saves another copy of the image in the folder. Those who are familiar with jpegs would know that how the image quality would drop after many rounds of compression, so I wouldn't recommend this for people who want high-res quality photos. The Meitu FX camera isn't all that great compared to the default camera software provided in my phone either.

Unfortunately, my phone is fairly old and lacks the technology to fully utilize the camera app. Mine doesn't even have white balance adjustment and the ability to select object for exposure settings. The UI of the app is wonderfully sleek and appeals to my graphic design aesthetics. Upon starting up, the app will automatically calibrate its settings to suit your phone model, and has geotagging function as well. It has its own publishing platform like instagram does, but is more popular with photographers: http://grid.vsco.co/.

The filters are all modeled after traditional film photography look, and are more subtle. It would work well for scenery and objects more than portraits I think, but they do provide a free downloadable tool preset for adjusting skin hue. I think this app works better with cameras that have better specs, but the filters alone is worth the download.
I personally don't really use stamps as much because they can be slightly tacky, but I think the decorations in DECOPIC is pretty cute. It resembles what you'll find in a purikura machine, perhaps even better. You can earn candies simply by logging in daily, and buy prettier decorations, but some of the best ones like the sanrio series can only be bought by cash.

However, like a game, they reward you with various decorations every time you complete certain 'tasks', and it's a rather fulfilling feeling. I'm not too sure how much storage this app would take up after a long while though, it does seem slow in loading compared to other apps. But it's worth a try if you like purikura.

Signing off,
cookie

Hi all, Cookie here, it's been a while since I've last posted. Honestly, my skincare regime is woefully basic these days so I'm afraid I don't have much products to review. I've been sticking to dermatologist's products and a basic eye cream + sunscreen, and that seems to work alright for me.

So instead, as a self-proclaimed social recluse who cooks all the time, I'll be sharing two basic recipes for lazy people like me -- with as little preparation and cleaning up as possible.

Time: 15 - 20 mins

Ingredients (for one):
Spaghetti (a bunch < one inch in diameter would do/ 60 - 80g)
Cream cheese (a tablespoon dollop, add heavy cream if you want a creamier texture)

Miso paste (a teaspoon -- I use this to replace salt and get a slight umami taste)
Garlic (2 - 3 cloves)

Bacon (1 - 2 slices, try to get fresh from a delicatessen in cold storage for example )
Herbs/ Spices (To taste. I like Italian herb mix + a teeny bit of tarragon but parsley and oregano is great too)

Asparagus (a bunch)

Egg (1)

1. Boil a medium/ large pot of water with a tablespoon of salt in it. (Use an electronic kettle if you are in a rush.)
2. While waiting for the water to boil, cut the aspharagus, garlic and bacon (in that order).

3. Fry the egg sunny side up with a bit of olive oil.

4. Cook the spaghetti until al dente, according to package instructions. (4 - 6 mins)

5. Blanch the asparagus with the pasta during the last few minutes.
6. With the same frying pan you fried your egg, cook bacon and saute garlic until lightly brown.
7. While doing the above, drain the pasta until a tiny amount of water remains. Separate the pasta from water and asparagus.
8. Mix miso paste and cream cheese into the pasta water until dissolved. Mix the pasta with the garlic, olive oil and bacon mix (if there's too much oil, get rid of some first).

9. Pour the pasta onto a plate, and place asparagus and cream cheese + miso 'gravy' on top. (Mine was at the bottom).
10. It should be salted just enough from the bacon and miso, but add extra salt and pepper if needed.

This tastes like a creamy carbonara with a slight Japanese twinge to it. Make sure the bacon isn't too salty (as prepackaged bacon tends to be). If it is, blanch it first. Make sure not to use too much olive oil or bacon oil.

Time: 30 mins

Ingredients (for one):
half a cup of Japanese short grain rice

leftover vegetables (from nabe, for eg) like carrots, mushrooms, onions, napa cabbage, japanese cucumbers

japanese silken tofu (I recommend unicurd)
peeled small prawns (4 - 5)
miso paste w dashi or dashi and chicken stock (to taste)

seaweed furikake (sprinkle to taste)

salt, umeboshi (to taste)

Traditional zosui is usually leftover cooked rice and nabe vegetables cooked in nabe broth, but you can cook it from scratch using a claypot and save up on cleaning.

1. Pour half a cup of rice into the claypot and wash the rice till clear.

2. Measure one cup of water for rice and cook the rice with a lid on.

3. While cooking, cut all the tofu and vegetables.

4. Put hard vegetables like carrots into claypot. Put more water in claypot when needed.

5. Keep layering different vegetables in order of how long they need to be cooked.

6. Add in chicken/ miso w dashi stock.

7. Add in prawns and be careful not to overcook.

8. Add in tofu and vegetables like cucumbers last.

9. Sprinkle furikake, salt and chopped umeboshi to taste.

I find seaweed furikake to be the binding component of the dish. If you can't find or don't like the sour + saltiness of umeboshi, you can skip it. I find that it adds a special kick to zosui.

I'd have to say beforehand though that although I'm not a professional food blogger, I am human. I eat. I love good food. What do I love even more than good food? Cheap AND good food! Who doesn't like a cheap deal?

And so I learnt a lesson from this. On my birthday, my bf brought me to Gyu Kaku to have some of the finest beef I've ever tasted. We had both wagyu and normal beef that day and it was so very good. The feeling of the perfect combination of meat and fat melting away on your tongue. It was heavenly. So was the bill (lol). It's affordable but nonetheless still rather expensive, something that you wouldn't be able to eat all the time unless you're damn rich. If you are, good for you.

We both got "addicted" and craved for the beef... Naturally we searched for more wagyu beef restaurants that are hopefully just as good and more friendly on the wallet. That's when my bf stumbled upon Tenkaichi, previously known as Daidomon. It had a wagyu beef buffet promotion going on for $59.90++ per person for dinner. It SEEMED to have good reviews. So we went for it with a group of friends.

Allow me to show you the power of promotional pictures vs reality.

Please click HERE for photos from Tenkaichi. Take note of how they had to specify that pictures are for ILLUSTRATION PURPOSES only. (They didn't use to do that till our comments about the beef pictures.)

In case they edit their posts, here's an example of how they usually do it.

Here's the food that we were served.

A messy pile of dull looking meat. How appealing.

Gyu tan, or ox tongue. Just as dull.

The sushi was alright, but how wrong can you go with sashimi?! The butter fish is nothing special either. It's just tuna. It was neither significantly buttery or fragrant.

Last but not least, here is a comparison of the "wagyu beef" they serve vs the wagyu beef we ate at Gyu Kaku.

Above is from Tenkaichi and the pic below is from Gyu Kaku

I'm sure that even without my comments, the difference is obvious. Just look at the color!!! Both pictures are taken with the same camera okay. Tenkaichi's wagyu was just... The fats overwhelmed the meat and the meat had no taste anyway lol. It was just... Meat. There was no melting, no heavenly feeling nor any sense of satisfaction.

We thought we were smart. We thought we found a good deal. But we were outsmarted. We paid more than $60 for something that isn't even worth half the amount. I'd rather eat steak at a coffeeshop or something. but you know, bad experiences happen in life. We simply left feeling disappointed.

A while later, my bf commented on their facebook page about the photos taken by a regular consumer in comparison to the pictures they upload. (That's why they started adding those disclaimers lol)

I don't think a simple comment on how the meat looks different warrants such a sarcastic reply from their supposed boss? Or moderator or something. And very obviously, He realized his mistake after. The coward deleted his comments but not before we took some screenshots. Our comments are still there on the facebook page but his isn't. You can check there to verify.

In conclusion, this post is meant to express my displease towards Tenkaichi AND expose their attitude + poor quality beef. If you want to eat nice beef but you have a small budget, go to Gyu Kaku and try their normal beef. Their non-wagyu tastes even better than this shop's wagyu. Don't waste your money or your time travelling to this restaurant. You can score a better deal somewhere else.

It's been a super long time since I blogged again :( Not as long as when we went MIA but well... Still kinda long. Apologies but I have been packed with courses and work. I have no offdays!!! *Tugs at hair dramatically*

Ok, I don't have much hair. Shall not do that.

But anyway, I'm back with a review! And it's a cosmetic product :D

Today's review will be on the 3 Concept Eyes Full Cover Concealer~

They're kinda tiny because I bought the miniatures to try out first. Got it in both shade 1 and 2 as I could NOT determine which shade suits me from the picture they provided. I have swatches of both below!

Oh and it comes with your regular doe foot applicator. Picks up product well, quite a lot at one go actually so don't accidentally slap a whole blob on.
There! The swatches. I promise you this is quite accurate. Like 99% similar as to what I see with my eyes IRL.

Say hello to arm mole! It's been an extremely long time since it last showed up in a post!

My thoughts :

If you're looking to cover a zit, this sucks. As you can tell from the coverage test above, it fares pretty badly. As an undereye concealer? Yes! IF your dark eye circles are not severe, you can definitely use this as an undereye concealer / highlighter. It gives a beautiful dewy finish that looks amaaaazing and natural, as long as either one of the shades suits you.

I have been using the darker shade (#2) to conceal the inner V of my eyebags/circles. It's only very slightly lighter than my dark eye circles. I then use the lighter shade (#1) to highlight a bigger V from the inner portion of my cheeks all the way to my eye bags. This highlights the area and creates the illusion of fuller cheeks and hides the eyebags more. By having fuller cheeks, you'll look younger. I do not mean swollen cheeks uhh so don't get me wrong. The lighter shade (#1) is perfect for natural highlighting due to it's dewy finish and that it's only slightly lighter than my skin tone.

On a totally random note, this concealer smells nice lol. Also, you have to set this concealer with some loose/pressed powder if you want this to last. It's not very long lasting and I'd say it wears for about 3-4 hours on oily skin. I guess if you want something that's natural and dewy, you can't really expect it to be a long lasting product. This one's perfect for those with dry under eyes as it's a very liquidy product. Kinda creamy but not sticky or anything.

I love this item and I'd recommend it if the shade suits you. I have purchased several back ups of shade 1 already :D

Texture: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (AWESOMEEEEE!)
Coverage: ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ (Covers some but just the minimal stuff)
Lasting Power: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Average wear, take another star off if you're oily but don't powder.)
Overall: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (I absolutely love this. It's affordable and not cakey! But one star off for the coverage and another off because it's definitely NOT a "Full Cover Concealer")

I got mine from a seller on Qoo10. Please note that he/she is only selling the mini sized concealer so it's only $2.
Blogged this in advance as I'll be having a busy month!

So, I don't know if you've heard, but apparently there's a beauty hotpot that's all the rage in SG. When I googled it, it was as though it's a pot of liquid gold that everyone loves. Even my bff told me she and her bf loves it. They've gone there on multiple occasions because they love the Bijin Nabe a lot.

After hearing and reading such positive reviews, I had to try it out!

Is it worth the hype..?

Here are the pictures.

You'll get a pot with some tofu looking thing in it. That's the collagen jelly that's supposed to slowly melt into a thick creamy broth.

After roughly 2 minutes or so, the jelly has fully melted into a milky broth, revealing chunks of chicken along the way. At this point of time the server will ladle a small amount of soup for you to taste the original flavor before adding any other ingredients.

These are the ingredients that come with the hotpot. I would say it's 80% vegetables. You'll get a short bamboo stick of meat. I don't know how else to describe that lol. You'll also get 4 prawns. The rest are... Veggies. And that's not a watermelon.

It's a radish! Cute! (But tastes bad to me :/)

You also get to choose from 3 different kind of noodles. I apologize but I've forgotten the choices except the one I chose, which is the thick mochi mochi noodles.

This is the final product. The server will add the ingredients into the pot for you so no worries about wondering which goes in the pot first. The prawns are left alone though. You only cook it when you want to eat it otherwise it'll go hard.

This seaweed paste is served while you're halfway through your meal, specially made for you. (Every table has it though so I don't see the special in this.)

What I think of this :

Well... You must know that if you're a #foreveralone, you probably would skip this as the minimum order serves two. Of course if you're a big eater then go ahead.

I'll talk about the food first. I love the broth. It's very creamy and savory but it's also slightly too salty for me. But it's still addictive as I'm the one who drank most of the soup. My bf hated this soup as he felt that not only was it salty, it tasted milky. He hates milk. I'm not sure if any milk was added into this though I highly doubt it. Maybe it was just really creamy.

The chicken in the soup is supposedly, no ordinary chicken. It's "Jitokko", chicken that's raised in an organic way. Rare chicken. Yup, it's really tender. But then again it's as chicken as the chicken you get in SG. I can't taste anything rare about it. Don't hate me, I'm just being blunt.

The veggies are just veggies, nothing special. The prawns however are really juicy, sweet and fresh! My favorite! But only 4 comes with the pot :(

That's about it for the food. Service was great, the staffs were all polite and friendly. The way they operate however, is just STUPID. Not to be rude or anything but the person who came up with the idea of NO RESERVATIONS must be "square brain". Now I don't visit the Chinatown branch as it's not as accessible as the PS one. The PS outlet is really small so it's really easy to achieve a full house. This Bijin Nabe is only served after 5pm. That's when most people are out to get dinner. You can't reserve seats. So at 5pm, you MUST be there to "chop" your seat. Imagine you're damn unlucky and people do actually start queuing as early as 4pm. You might just have to wait till 8 plus or 9 plus for your dinner. (I went there at 5 plus once and was told that they will be full till closing.)

If they're afraid of no shows, why can't they be flexible and allow reservations and cancel if the patron is 10 minutes late? I have absolutely no patience to be hungry and wait till night for a pot of soup filled with veggies. This concept pisses me off. And honestly, the meal for two without any other order adds up to roughly 30 per pax which is sooooo expensive! $30 for a soup filled with mostly veggies is just unacceptable for me. It's overrated and overpriced. I would rather take the money and go enjoy several plates of sashimi. And if you're eating it for the collagen, I'd advise you to spend your $30 on actual collagen drinks or powders instead. One pot isn't gonna do you any good.

In conclusion, I will not return unless someone's treating me to it. It's just not worth it and I can eat a cheap buffet with that amount of money. I have no patience and a hungry me is an angry me.

Also, here's what you're eating.

Heh. It's full of fats! With collagen of course. (It will look like this when it's cooled so if you don't wanna lose your appetite, keep the soup cooking.)

Love,
Domo

Looks familiar? I've reviewed a similar product HERE but the product for this is a milky blue color.

What I think of this product :

Unlike the Etude House Eyes Cream that I reviewed previously, this does NOT claim to be an eye cream. It's described more as a simple "pick me up" product for the eyes, hence the 24 in the product name. You can apply this handy little eyes stick anywhere, anytime as long as your eyes are feeling tired and need a little boost. If you're looking for a proper eye cream, skip this. However as a pick me up eyes stick, it's just lovely. It's really cooling and refreshing on the skin. It has a very light minty floral-ish scent. My sister bought this as well and she spams it. She carries this around the house and reapply constantly while doing her homework / studying. (Am not sure if she brings it to school) It helps make her more awake due to the cooling effect.

For me, I've gotten pretty lazy so I no longer bring a make up pouch out. Which means if I were to use this over my made up face... My dark eye circles will show through. Instead I use this in the mornings when I'm feeling really sleepy or like now, when I'm blogging late in the night.

I forgot how much this costs though as I bought this in Korea. I do remember it being extremely cheap but that's Korea. Everything's OP in SG :x You can check this out in stores though, I believe there's an outlet at Bugis!

*This product performs almost identically to the Etude one so if you opt for that as an alternative if Tony Moly one is not available or not as accessible or cheaper! I honestly do not know which is cheaper but personally I'd just get whichever is nearer to me cause I am a lazy bum.

Disclaimer : I bought this with my own money in Korea!Domohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08000013646781978858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5113517470589330051.post-54909761575447901572013-08-22T17:51:00.000+08:002013-08-22T17:52:47.235+08:00Product Review : Naruko Lip Repairing & Smoothing Lip Balm SetHello! I'm not super hardworking but I've decided to blog here and there while I'm free :D Also, very very unfortunately, I have the habit of purchasing items online whenever I am feeling a little down. Retail therapy is super bad for health okay, online retail therapy counted as well! So... I kinda have a lot of products on hand... *Briefly considers burying credit cards and ib device*

Anyway, I got lip balms! I'm very anal when it comes to lip balms because I have super dry lips. They're so terrible that using any lip products, balms included, can cause them to peeeeeel. Then I'll end up looking sick with pale dry lips :/ So ever since, I've constantly been on the hunt for newer and better lip balms. I was purchasing something for my mom and decided to add this to the cart as well.

Introducing the Naruko Lip Repairing & Smoothing Lip Balm Set!

Well I'm don't need so many lip balms and given a choice I would go with the pink one! Just cause it's pink. But it comes in a set anyway so...

Pardon my mentos xD I was trying to get better lighting with my mentos container! Very simple packaging, just like your usual, average lip balms? (But I like pink :P)

The pink one's called the Vitamin ACE Ageless lip balm and the purple one's called the HA Intense Hydrating lip balm. As you can very obviously see in the picture, the pink one contains a yellowish balm that looks a little... Not so appealing. Whereas the purple one contains a creamy looking whitish balm that looks normal I suppose?

Here you can see their functions and ingredients.

L - HA Intense Hydrating Lip Balm / R - Vitamin ACE Ageless Lip Balm

As you can see, or not see (lol), the HA Intense Hydrating Lip Balm (Purple), looks like nothing on the lips. It's good for prepping the lips before lipstick application. Probably will not change the finish of your matte lippies but I can't say for sure as I don't own any matte lippies. Works well with the lip stains I own. HOWEVER, over application will give you a whitish film on your lips. You don't want that so remember not to spam. As much as I'm obsessed with lip products, I often do not like feeling anything on my lips or accidentally tasting/consuming my lip products. This lip balm feels almost like nothing on my lips, making me feel more at ease. This product contains fragrance but it's very mild, just a herbish lavenderish scent?

For the Vitamin ACE Ageless Lip Balm (Pink), it has a glossy finish. It's not obvious in the picture but obvious in reality. You can safely spam this on if you desire the finish to be more glossy. I usually use this when I'm going out without any other lippies or at night before bed. I find that this balm is a lot more moisturizing than the purple one and it glides on a lot smoother :/ It improves the appearance of fine lines because of the glossy finish and have not noticed any significant difference in my lip lines. I prefer this pink one to the purple on because it hydrates my lips a lot better and keeps it from peeling or shriveling up. This smells similar to the purple balm with the addition of a slight menthol scent. Don't ask me why :/

To conclude, there's no need for a comparison as these come in a set haha. Either way you'll still get both and you'll wanna use both unless you're super rich and don't mind just using the one you prefer. If sold separately, I'll get the pink one. I have not seen these at Watsons thus I assume that they're only available online at Naruko's website HERE for $7.90 (Not inclusive of GST I think). Also, it's mentioned that for best product quality you'd wanna finish this within 6 months after opening. Time to spam spam spam!

HA Intense Hydrating Lip Balm (Purple)
Vitamin ACE Ageless Lip Balm (Pink)
Moisture level : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Very very moisturizing!)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Nothing pleasant or unpleasant)

It's worth getting if you're not as picky as me, about $4 per lip balm? Would work better for people whose lips aren't as extreme as mine.
Long time no review :/ But but I've been hardworking and taking piccies so I suppose more will be up soon~

For now, I'll be sharing several masks reviews with you, starring the Daily Fresh Masks from VOV. Do note that as I'm compiling 3 different masks reviews in one, it will be quite picture heavy.

First up, the VOV DFM in Ice Aloe.

Basically this is just supposed to be a hydrating and soothing mask. We all know the properties of Aloe by now don't we?

Here you can see how to use it. I personally leave my DFM masks on for 20 minutes. Do take note that this mask contains alchohol and fragrance so if you have sensitive skin you might wanna be more cautious. I did not experience any stinging sensation whatsoever and the fragrance was just a light floral scent.

The mask comes with the eye flap thingy so it's a bonus that you don't have to use a separate eye mask? The mask fits almost perfectly on my face, except for my bulbous nose :(

If you wanna continue surfing the web like me, you can always just fold the flap downwards like so.

Here's a picture of the serum from this mask. It is very thick and gel / jelly like. Upon contact with skin + rubbing / massaging, the gel like consistency becomes watery and absorbs fully into the skin without any sticky or oily residue.

L - Before / R - After

Skin felt soft and smooth after usage. The leftover essence was easily massaged into the skin and as mentioned earlier, no oily film or residue. No stickiness detected either. However, the skin around my cheeks felt a little tight. I am unable to explain why but my skin did not feel dry or agitated. Tight feeling disappeared after following up with my usual skincare routine.

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Absorbs quickly)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (It did what it was supposed to, just a star off for the weird tight feeling.)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (A very acceptable scent, neither extremely appealing to me nor overwhelming.)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (A decent mask for almost all skin types, not sure about those with sensitive skin though.)
Now for the Sake Nori Mask.

Basically a brightening mask!

*Not sure if this is true but I've once read that sake agitates those with sensitive skin. I however do not have that and thus am unable to confirm for you.
I apologize that my pictures do not do this mask justice :/ If you can see, the lighting for both seems a little different and I am still working on it. This mask in reality made my complexion brighter, softer and smoother! If I'm not mistaken, my dark eye circles are a little less red / puffy? The serum for this mask is the same as the aloe once so I'm not going to repeat the picture. The absorption rate is also the same as the aloe one, with no sticky or oily feeling. The scent is also something floral... (What a relief cause I ain't no want my face smelling like sake :/)

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Absorbs quickly)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (I love the brightening effect :D)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Floral is too meh for me.)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (It's quite a good mask! Worth a shot.)

And lastly, the Sakura Honey one. I was most excited about this one due to the beautiful pink packaging!

A different texture for the essence! This one is a little more runny than the previous two masks but still quite thick.
Love this brightening and soothing mask! If you squint at the picture, you'll notice a little spot on my left cheek. It's alot less red after using this mask and face was brighter! I personally felt that this was even more moisturizing than the previous two masks as it took awhile longer to sink in and my face felt more... Nourished. I was hoping for a sweet honey kinda scent but sadly, this is once again floral. I have nothing against floral scents! I just prefer fruits~

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Absorbs well but takes a longer time to sink in completely.)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Brightening as well as soothing.)
SUMMARY

I've always loved the VOV masks even before I was sent these for reviewing. I'm however guilty of purchasing only the fruity ones like the Strawberry / Tomato / Grape(Am not sure if it's called grapes, forgot alr). I super heart the strawberry one in particular because it smells sweet and amazing~ Recommended if you're a fan of sweet fruity scents. I was also sent a pomegranate one to review but I didn't have time to use it till the 7th month and honestly I'm a lil afraid of taking pictures of myself in case something (someone) else shows up.

Out of these three I've reviewed, I'd recommend getting either the Sakura Honey or the Sake Nori one as they're more unique and they hydrate my skin as well. I prefer my masks to have a whitening / brightening effect as my complexion is always dull. The aloe one is probably more for people who want to soothe agitated skin only.

These are available at Watsons for $2 each and they come in 15 types! So choose according to your skin's needs :D

P.S. You can find their FB page HERE! Also, they'll be having a buy 5 get 1 free promotion at Watsons from 15-28 August!

Hello Domokies >_<

We sorta came back for awhile, blogged a little, explained our disappearance and then disappeared again... We've been living our lives as normal, boring human beings and I went on a recent holiday trip to Bangkok!

It's my first time going to Bangkok without a tour guide so I'm kinda a noob and thus I didn't take note of any details or locations or whatsoever. I have some pictures randomly pooled together so feel free to take a look~ I'm returning in November for another shopping spree so I'll do a proper detailed post then!

I'm sure some of you have heard of MK, otherwise you're just like me :D It's not that bad, we're still exploring! Basically this is just... Steamboat. I can't remember much of it for it wasn't very impressive to me. The soup was however, one of the sweetest I've ever tasted in my life, probably because of the amount of veggies dumped into it.

I think this is beef. Nothing too amazing, it's just meat.

Some kinda platter. See that white doughey thing at the bottom left? That's shrimp wanton and it's awesome!!!
More meat, pork I believe.

And bla bla bla fast forward to my next meal on don't remember which day, here's my samurai pork burger!

Only picture I took before gobbling it. It's not like the samurai beef/chicken burger we have in SG though. This one doesn't contain black pepper and it's not spicy at all.

Loads of intestines and tender pork that melts in your mouth~

Frogs! Deep fried whole. I have close ups but they're slightly disturbing so I won't post them here. These taste like really crunchy chicken. And yes, you can eat the entire thing with the eyes...

These things are HUGEEEEE. But they don't taste as bad as you think. Still, it takes courage to bite into one, especially for a girl with a mega phobia of anything without legs or with more than 4 legs ><

Here we have some crickets.

These are a lot less intimidating than the grasshoppers and I personally find them tasty :/ They're a healthier and more nutritious version of potato chips! Super crunchy with a slightly milky aftertaste?

Last but not least, here are my loots! Snapped them up at fantastic prices and I promise to do a more detailed post next time /.\ But for now, dresses as cheap as $3-4, belts for about $2? And $8 bags!!! Plus I bought a HUGEEEE tub of hair mask to try! It's like 1litre and received positive reviews on the internet. Time to pamper my hair.

And randomly...

How I've been doing my make up recently! Super natural and suitable for work or school! (I don't mean primary or secondary school or JCs, you're not allowed to use make up there!) And of course, it's inspired by the Korean make up trend~

And then RANDOMLY, AGAIN, I'm ending this post! Hopefully I won't go MIA again~

Love,
Hope you guys are well this Chinese New Year season. Seems like more people get sick during this period, compared to other festive occasions, so do take care and not eat too much bak kwa. If you're like me, and not much of a festive person, perhaps you'd feel like a 'foreveralone' single on a Valentine's Day (which is coming soon :-O). Don't feel too down either.

Sorry for having not posted much for quite a while. My camera is officially deceased and it's a good excuse for me to get a new one (perhaps, a DSLR?).

I haven't been all that idle though, I hope. (Excuses. :x) Have been trying my hands out doing some DIY stuff though I haven't had a chance to photograph them yet.

Made a flower headdress of sorts from artificial flowers and lace ribbons. And a lace circle skirt that has really messy sewing. And well, drew some artworks. I've really got to concentrate and do more work though. I've been a little lazy these days because life is a little comfortable and I'm usually a little sleep-deprived (which explains the somewhat early timing of this post).

What? I'm sure that title made no sense to most of you :/ Here's a post before CNY, hopefully to also prevent you from doing something wrong, or even potentially harming yourself! *Dramatic*

A few weeks ago, we were invited to...

Lush! One of the happiest shop in SG imo.

Look at all the colors!

Pretty right? But the main reason why we went down to Lush was for...

The Soap NOT Soup event / I'm FINished With Fins campaign!

We saw these posters in the shop, you'll be able to see some of these around your bus stops and stuff like that. These are the people who've pledged to be FINished with FINS.

Say NO to shark fin soup. It's like saying no to drugs, it's not addictive but it causes harm to your body. I bet most of you didn't know that.

Us at the event! *Pardon the tired face*

As beauty bloggers, we initially thought we were just going down for a *cough-typical-cough* event that's just introducing their new products. Don't be shocked, the existence of most BB nowadays are just to help companies market their products for free. However Cookie and I wanted to go for this event because we do not consume shark fin at all. At least this is for a good cause! (We thought wrongly though, we'll elaborate later.)
Here's some facts you never did know with regards to sharkfin, click to enlarge! Now you know. Plus most SG peeps are seafood lovers, so without sharks, without the balance in the eco system, you can say byebye to scallops and crabs!

Basically, they're sharing with everyone their experiences upon pledging their loyalty to this campaign. As expected, they did face some disagreements with friends, a little teeny itsy bit of conflict here and there with those who find this campaign ridiculous.

DOMOKIE WAS WRONG. I admit, we were both wrong. This is the most eventful event out of all the blogger events I have been to in the past. We went there confused because we didn't recognize most of the people there till we realized that we were one of the few beauty bloggers invited. Cookie and I do not eat shark fin. We're actually really happy to know about this campaign because now we know, other people care as well!

Not just divers, not just celebrities, even ordinary people like us can play a part in helping to save the sharks. I bet that at some point of time in your life, if you ever pondered over shark fins and sounded it out to those around you, there are those who say that eating shark fin is a tradition, sharks can live without their fins anyway! Now let me ask you in return, would you like living without your hands or legs? I'm not sure how true it is but we humans can survive without our limbs for sure. Do YOU want that?

I know CNY is here, I know most of you have family dinners. Please, say no to shark fin. That's what I do. Even though my influence isn't as big as the celebs, I would at least know that I've done my part. I've not touched shark fin for a few years already. I mean come on! Shark fin doesn't taste good, it's just the soup really! Don't let innocent sharks die. Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they're fine and dandy. I forgot the exact numbers but they're comparable to pandas :/

Well. This is my take on the entire shark fin thing. I think I sound all over the place but I truly feel that we should stop consuming shark fins. If Cookie has anything to add she'll edit this post later on.

Please purchase this soap for a few dollars and do a good deed instead of forking out a ransom for the soup. All sales proceed goes to Shark Savers! It's for a good cause, remember that! *No sharks were harmed in the making of this soap*
This is a supremely overdue post and I apologize sincerely for that!!! And I've been having lessons and homework lately... Plus I've been addicted to Candy Crush :/ And an even weirder game called Battle Cats. Please don't download those apps to play if you dislike such games! I'm just bo liao like this T__T

Okay let me get started as I need to bring my lil pup for grooming soon!

Here's the LMS Spotlight!

This is how the box look like, I was sent all three for reviewing but if I were to put all the boxes here it would be... Long. So here's a picture of the biggest box of the biggest LMS spotlight lollol.

Firstly, those who have never seen this before would probably ask what a LMS Spotlight is. Guess what? That's the number 1 question on their Q&A! So I've taken some questions that I feel most of you would ponder about and put it here.

"Q. What are LMS Spotlights?
A. They are an innovative luxury skincare range that uses Red Light Therapy (RLT), a natural and safe skin treatment proven to clear spots fast.

Q. What is Red Light Therapy?
A. Red Light Therapy (RLT) is the application of red light to the skin, originally developed for NASA. It is a safe, natural wavelength used in skin treatment that is clinically proven and medically tested to treat mild to moderate acne and spots.

Q. How long will it take to heal my spots?
A. LMS Spotlights start working from the first treatment. They increase the body's natural healing process to clear spots twice as fast. Users of LMS Spotlights find that spots can clear in as little as 24 hours."

- Taken from LMS Spotlight Q&A page.

I would consider the above as the most commonly asked questions. For any other questions, please refer to their website. Now onto the product, they come in THREE sizes and all three sizes have different amounts of LED bulbs.

Note that two of the LMS spotlights come with their own caps.

From this picture you can see the amount of LED bulbs, 3, 8 and 24 respectively.

This is the smallest one comprising of 3 bulbs, slim but not like a pen, more like a tube of mascara. This one has a cap remember? So it's convenient for bringing out and using it in the toilet, especially if you usually only bring a clutch out.

This is the one with 8 bulbs and too comes with a cap. This one is suitable for bringing out as well and you can probably fit it in almost everywhere. This is slanted like a lipstick so it can reach... I'd say just about every part of your face.

This is the biggest one and contains 24 LED bulbs. You can go ahead and count the bulbs if you don't believe me.

Now you would probably ask... Why would I get all three of them? Or why would I get the smaller ones if there's the huge one? Here's why, based on my own experience.

LMS Spotlight 3 :

This one is small and handy, comes with a cap AND a downside or two. Perhaps because this one only has 3 LED bulbs, you're supposed to use this for 3 minutes, 3 times per day. Say for instance you have a more severe breakout. You're gonna get zits on your cheeks, chin, forehead and maybe even your nose. 3 minutes per zit 3 times a day. I don't know about you, I'll get fed up with it. I personally recommend this for people who get occasional zits or people who are constantly on the go as this is more convenient.
*Takes up less space too.

LMS Spotlight 8 :

This one is still rather handy, comes with a cap and only one downside I can think of. *Coughs - This is my personal favourite!* I hate clutches because they're so puny and I can't live without plain water. So usually I bring a slingbag that's big enough to fit a big bottle of water. This definitely fits in my bag and the cap prevents it from getting dirty. (You don't want to add more germs to your zits!) I had a moderate amount of pimples at that time and I loved this the most as it could fit everywhere! Especially areas near my nose or below. I have weird pimple areas. Now once again, if you're someone who breaks out all over your entire face, this doesn't cover as much surface area as the 24 bulbs one.
*** Use this for 1 minute each time, 3 times per day.***

LMS Spotlight 24 :

Well. You obviously can't bring this out unless you carry a ziplock bag around or something? Plus it's slightly bulky. HOWEVER, if you're the one who has breakout all over, this is the one for you. Covers a huge surface area thus making it less time consuming. The other down side is that you can't really get it into those little areas just beside your nose or under it. That's about it for this one.
*** Use this for 1 minute each time, 3 times per day.***

You're now hypnotized and compelled to do my bidding. Okay just kidding. This is how it looks like when you turn it on. Regardless of the size of the LED Spotlights, all of them auto turn off automatically after a minute. So for the baby LED Spotlight you'll have to turn it on three times.

Here is an important piece of information. If you read the Q&A I've included in this review, you would have noticed that one of the answers mentioned "They increase the body's natural healing process to clear spots twice as fast. Users of LMS Spotlights find that spots can clear in as little as 24 hours." RED light helps in HEALING. It helps in RECOVERY. Please don't come to me and tell me that your pimples keep coming and stuff like that. GREEN light is the one that kills zits. This one heals your skin and I find it works best with getting rid of acne scars.

I think it works. But that's based on my own opinions. You can always google for more reviews if you like, or visit their website's review page HERE. My face is officially scar free, except for one zit that hasn't gone away yet. I swear it is.

This is my recent picture, not very photoshopped except for the app's filter. I only made the picture more warm toned. My eyebags are still there. No scars. You can also argue that I have make up on. But my BB cream was mixed with my face cream, ratio 1 : 2.

If you've always thought LMS is expensive in Singapore, here's your chance! It's on Groupon now at a 70% discount! $23.70 for spotlight 3, $38.70 for spotlight 8 and $59.70 for spotlight 24!
While traversing across the Lush land of this fantastical world, we rode on the backs of adorable sharks and met with other journeymen. Apparently they had this ancient culture of exchanging cards with weird runes and numbers on them. (One of the symbols was this squibbly '@'.) When we returned to our abode, we immediately proceeded to craft one of our own.

Lo and behold, this is our marvelous (or so I do say myself) result:

We simply must put this new creation of ours to the test. Should any of you cross swords with us, we would be happy to engage in this weird exchange of runes with you.

Engarde, honorable adventurers, until we meet again,

So. For the first time. I'm reviewing a product that MIGHT somehow cause weight loss ;D How many of you have eaten too much over the holidays? AND, CNY is coming next month! We all love food right? We still wanna eat right?

Here's a solution! (I can't assure you that it'll work 100%)

Introducting the JustUme Fiber Plum!

JustUme Fiber Plum (comes in a fruit/plum form) is targeted for digestion and inner cleansing (promote bowel movement). Made of Japanese Umeboshi Plum, Probiotics and Plants extract, JustUme is a natural choice for those people for experience constipation, poor digestion, bloating, gas, bad breath, poor complexion, water retention and weak immunity. Result can be seen within 1-2 days and it is natural.

At this point I'd like to add, do NOT consume this if you are going out after your meal. Unless you are positive that there's always a toilet available for your comfortable usage.

Here's all the nutrition info but I'm not really a healthy living kinda person and I can't really comprehend this :/

The plum comes packaged individually so you can bring this out or overseas easily. If you're going home after a meal outside, take this with ease as it does not activate its magical powers so soon.

Yeap. That's it. It's a plum that's covered in some powder on the outside. I believe the powder makes it tastes bitter though. However when you finish eating the powder covered part it's just a sourish and slightly sweet plum. It's quite big though so chew through it slowly!

Now why did I say it MIGHT help in weight loss? It really really aids in digestion! It works somewhat like the slimming tea that causes you to run to the toilet a few minutes later but SLOWER. And all natural! Personally I've found that my own body takes 4 hours or so to feel the toilet urge. It comes on as a gradual tummyache before you realize that you MUST find the toilet or you'll explode. I recommend doing the business at home as you will let out quite an amount of gas.

I can't say for sure if it'll help you shed a lot of pounds but it kept my weight in check over the days I've consumed it while having hearty meals. If you're constipated, this will help you for sure.

Is this a must buy? If you're someone looking to lose weight, I'd still recommend the exercise + eat less but healthily kinda way instead of using this product. If you're someone who's comfortable with your weight but have big meals once in a while, you can take this to prevent your weight from rising I suppose. And if you're constipated, do try it :D

Please note that the above paragraph is based on my own assumptions luh. Except for the constipated part, this will definitely help you poo.

I can't really rate this product but it does what it claims to do thus it's a 5 star? Also I don't know the price of this item so you'll have to check it out yourself!

Love,
Domo
Now please don't bother about the dust T__T My table is EXTREMELY messy and I can't help if some dust gets on something once in awhile. I actually tried wiping the dust of but... Well...

Introducing the Mac Ravishing Lipstick! (Cremesheen finish) I was a crazy fan of Mac before I started loving the Jap and Korea cosmetics so I acquired this lipstick via their recycling program. Return 6 Mac empties to get 1 new lippie.

Here's the lipstick! I've used it a few times prior to taking the picture so pardon the weird markings too.

Here's a swatch of it on my arm.

And my ugly lip x 2. As you can see, this is not the glossiest or most moisturizing lipstick in the world. You can see all of my lip lines, even when I smile you can see that it's uneven! The color is more true on my arm, a muted peachy orangey shade.

The lipstick doesn't really go on smoothly so for dry lips, this isn't something you would like. It's not flattering at all for people with lips like mine so I would advice one to use lipbalm under and lipgloss over so your lips would look juicy and moisturized.

I've not bought Mac lippies in awhile but I believe this is 29sgd..?
This was one of the only things that turned out well. Actually, I'd even dare say it's pretty decent despite its simplicity, given that my mom actually stole my portion away in the stealth of the night (okay, maybe not that sneakily), and I managed only to eat two of the dozen that I had.

The recipe was from Domo's cousin, and it's relatively simple to understand. Even if you are an amateur like us, I think it should be quite easy to follow. If you do recreate the recipe, do let us know about the result!

Ingredients:

(Makes 1 8x8 pan or about 16 cupcakes)

½ cup/ 110g (1 stick) butter, melted (unsalted)
1 cup/ 200g sugar (or 160g if you're not so much a sweet-tooth)
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
2 eggs
½ cup/ 60g flour
1/3 cup/ 40g cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt (omit if using salted butter)
nuts (optional, we didn't use any because Domo prefers them without)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350˚F/ 180 degree Celsius. Grease a mini muffin pan with cooking spray.
2. In a medium bowl, stir together the butter, sugar, and vanilla.
3. Add eggs, and beat well.
4. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
5. Gradually add to egg mixture, beating until blended.
6. Stir in nuts, if desired.
7. Fill the muffin cups. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
(Bake for shorter time [12-13 min] to get a very moist and warm cupcake.)
8. Let them set for about 5-10 minutes.

Step by Step Process:

Firstly, gather all the ingredients...

We used real vanilla extract here, but the cheaper variety would work fine as well.

Do not confuse with Baking Soda, which is pure Sodium Bicarbonate. Baking Powder contains Sodium Bicarbonate AND an acidifying agent (such as cream of tartar). Though the former might work (since chocolate is contained in the recipe, and is a mild acidifying agent), it may not produce the best results.

The consistency would be quite rough because of the sugar at first, and creamy/ sticky after the butter is melted and mixed in.

We didn't use the metal muffin trays because we hadn't invested in one yet, but do use it if you have it so the shape holds better. Timing differs according to how hot your oven is and so on.

We didn't bake it for very long because both of us love the moist type of brownies. The brownies go really well with vanilla ice-cream too. Enjoy while it's hot~!
Most of you are probably in Lalaland now but I usually blog better in a quiet environment at night so... Here I am :D With a review.

Now I actually meant to do up a lipstick review but I found these pictures that I edited before changing laptops and since they're with the old watermark design, I'll post them up first.

TODAY'S PRODUCT!

Lush Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo~~~ (I have the 500g one but was too lazy to photograph it again :x)

LUSH SG says

"Condition, body and shine for wavy, fluffy and frizzy hair. Cynthia Sylvia Stout is made with stout beer, which your great-grandmother probably used to make her hair shine. Stout contains protein and gives hair weight, smoothness and gloss. Excellent for hair which goes frizzy in the damp, Cynthia Sylvia Stout smells delicious, like a brandy, stout and lemon cocktail, and even makes curly hair shiny." - Taken from Lush SG website HERE.

*Coughs coughs* I believe you all know how to use shampoo so lets skip this picture.

Here's the ingredients list and I'm actually surprised when I first saw it. I didn't expect stout to be the first ingredient on the list!

Anywayz, here's my thought on this product.

I was given a sample when I headed into the store one day to ask for a shampoo that works on really frizzy dry hair. I took a whiff of this sample when I got home and I was like PHEWWWWWWW. I'm not a fan of stout or any alcoholic drinks so this smelt... Pretty bad to me. I absolutely hated the scent and was super fearful that the scent would linger long in my hair.

Upon using it in the shower, I could finally catch whiffs of the lemon! Also it somehow reminded me of cinnamon. If some of you hate shampoos that don't foam well like *coughs-blousey-coughs*, rest assured that this lathers fine as long as you're not too stingy with the amount you use. While waiting for my hair to dry, I became addicted to the scent :/ Don't ask me why or how but it was less pungent and the scent felt strangely soothing and warm. LIKE CINNAMON! Me likey~

As for the smooth hair part, it doesn't work if I use this without a conditioner. I must must absolutely must use conditioner with any shampoo I use or my hair will be like a haystack. After pairing my conditioner with CSS, my hair did feel smoother and less frizzy. Also, I thought I smelt heavenly :x

Deng deng deng, it comes down to the price again. You can purchase a 500ml bottle of this CSS for a whopping $48 from Lush SG /.\ It's actually only £14.20 if you were to get it from the UK. Given the current exchange rate, it adds up to $28.40. If you were to spree it in, shipping is definitely below $20... So I'll leave the choice up to you whether it's better to wait and get it at a lower price or if it's better to get it quickly to your convenience at a marked up price.

Application : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I personally prefer a pump when I get a big sized shampoo.)

Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I find it not bad for my hair but hey, get a sample first so you can try :D)

Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I am strangely addicted to the scent :/ Smells better when it lingers in your hair.)

Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Actually, it's only 3 and a half stars because of the steep pricing and the lack of pump but that's personal perspective!)

I'm off to schedule another post before I go catch some zzz!

Love,

Domo

Disclaimer : I bought this shampoo with my own $_$.Domokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17893818669579982181noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5113517470589330051.post-27047020504074532832012-12-30T14:25:00.001+08:002012-12-30T14:25:45.989+08:00Product Review : SANA Esteny The Massage CoolAnnyeong! I'm back from Korea and just seeing our new blog layout, I feel super motivated to blog~ It's so girly and soft now plus we spent an entire day doing it yesterday. I really love it! What do you all think xD

I'm gonna do a Korea trip post of course but because I have not finished compiling the piccies, those will have to wait awhile! In the mean time, here's something that I've been using for a little while after getting back form Korea.

Firstly when we go on overseas trip with a tour guide, there's always a whole lot of walking isn't it? Well I guess for most people, it's sitting in the bus till their butt hurts. Mine however involved climbing a lot of stairs, walking, and even climbing a mountain :/ I did some ski-ing too and that really made my entire body ache. So in a sense, despite enjoying my trip, I came back physically exhausted.

So when I received this product, I used it immediately!

Presenting SANA Esteny The Massage Cool~

Here's the back of the product but I can't read Japanese much at all. So here's the details of this product taken from SANA's Facebook :

"Esteny The Massage Cool:

A combination of skin-toning and helps swollen legs. Excellent for tired legs! Ginger extract and Green Coffee are combined. Cool feeling helps reverse blood circulation through legs.Non rinse-off type. Fresh apple & Ginger fragrance."

On the back of the product, it shows you how you should massage your legs.

"Before sleep, apply generous amount to legs. Work way up from sole to ankle and knee with massaging motion. After usage, rinse hand with water." - Directions from SANA's Facebook

So here's how the product looks like. A milky and very slightly blueish kinda gel. This is just to show you what the product looks like. If I'm lazy, I tend to use this sort of like a moisturizer :x A quick application before bed. However if I were to massage, I used A WHOLE LOT of this product. Why so? As it's a gel, it absorbs really quickly into the skin. If you wish to massage your legs, you must ensure that your legs are still "slippery" with the product so you wouldn't be tugging on your skin.

Although this product contains ginger oil, I couldn't detect it. It smells like... You know there's this powder that feels icy on the skin? We used to call it "snake powder". But for the record though guys use it more often than girls, I love that scent :x This smells like that with a hint of citrus.

My say on this product is that... This product is like yoko yoko for ladies. Here's a picture of it for those of you who don't know yoko yoko.

It has that cooling and very "shuang" feeling after application BUT it helps to moisturize the legs at the same time. It does soothe the leg ache but I have not really noticed any significant slimming effect. Why use this over yoko yoko? Because of the scent! I use this in the day before and it smells better than the herbal medicine smell that yoko yoko has. But TBH Idk if you should use this on anywhere else other than your legs. Better to follow instructions.

All in all, this is a nice product to have but it is not a must buy in my case... If you're one who likes to indulge and pamper yourself a lot, you could give this a try!

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Absorbs really quickly, but too quickly that it's a little hard to massage.)

Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Stars off for the slimming because I really did not see it.)

Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (I find this scent really appealing to me though.)

Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (To splurge or not to splurge? I'll leave it up to you after reading the review!)

And goodbye for now my Domokies! Am off to my grandma house to have an early birthday celebration!

Cheers,

Hi Domokies, it's been a while~! I've been busy with work but we've finally managed to find some time to have a photoshoot, and change the layout. Tell us what you think about it and what we can improve on as well.

Domo returned from a family holiday in Korea recently. So stay tuned for an exciting travel log of her trip.
^ w ^ (Domo is seated beside me and she says "It's not that exciting, actually." and also "I've recently became a barrel again.")

As for myself, I have been sewing fat cats, working like a kami-sama and trying to grow eye bags. I've got a couple of DIY posts in the backlog that's way overdue, but fear not! Ghostbusters are here. (But fear furbies, they will be the cause of an apocalypse.) I mean, my new year resolution would be to blog more often, is what I'm trying to say.

Alas, the end of the world hath not befallen us, but the year draws to a close. For those thinking 'WTH have I been doing this year?!', take heart, for we are the survival of a (non-existent) zombie apocalypse.

Domo here, I think Cookie has gone nuts from editing the layout all day. She has short circuited or something.

Anyway, happy new year in advance (and a belated happy new year if you're reading this after 1 Jan). We wish everyone future zombie survivability and a good year ahead. Stay human! (I SAID 'HEALTHY'.)

Goodnight! (depending on your timezone)

Love,
Cookie, and Domo

Domokiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17893818669579982181noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5113517470589330051.post-90028632060781402872012-12-05T22:41:00.000+08:002012-12-05T22:41:02.416+08:00Product Review : L'Oreal Youth Code Boosting Essence Hello hello! I've been slacking today T^T But I saw this product on the Watsons sale and I simply HAVE to review it now.

This is a product that has been raved by plenty and mentioned as a dupe for a certain product.

Presenting...

The L'Oreal Youth Code Boosting Essence! (Usually mentioned as a dupe for the Lancome Genefique Youth Activator. I have not used that thus I am unable to provide a comparison.)

This is... In a sense, a serum for your serum. SERUMCEPTION. Okay not really unless you use two serums like me. Otherwise, take it as a primer for your facial cream. Of course it's also supposed to be a serum that provides you with the above effects as well.

Apologies in advance here as I'm honestly not a pro in this aspect and can only show you what L'Oreal says.

Here's the ingredients list for those of you who understand the various names above. (I only understand very basic ones)

So... Let us talk about the usage. It doesn't specifically mention how much you're supposed to use each time other than using this twice a day. This product looks like this.

A simple glass bottle with...

A dropper. When assisted by the SA, I was told that one drop would be sufficient for my entire face. That, I have found to be untrue as I have a fat face. Fat face needs more than one drop. The dropper only picks up a little amount of product each time and I have found that the best amount is just fully pumping out whatever the dropper can pick up. (Please do not strictly follow by this as sometimes it picks up slightly more as shown in the picture. Adjust accordingly to how fat your face is :P)

For the texture, it's amazing! It's a rather liquidy serum that spreads super easily on your face and absorbs a few seconds later. This will be a great product for the oily skin peeps as most products that have any anti aging properties at all are usually somewhat greasy, even if slightly. This absorbs like a dream and leaves skin feeling hydrated and plump.

Here's the product on my skin.

Huuhuu, don't be mistaken, this is just one drop!

Absorbs without leaving any hint of dewiness or oilyness on the skin. Perfect!

It's better if you have two hands to compare the before and after but my camera isn't the best so you'll have to either trust me / google for more reviews / go to watsons to try.

I've been using this for more than a month and it's safe to say that I adore this product. I'm not sure if my other skincare products have gotten better with the usage of this serum but this by itself is already doing a wonderful job. It's no wonder so many beauty bloggers love it! I also did not get clogged pores or any breakouts from this. My skin's really nice right now :3

Regarding the scent, it's a very mild floral scent that goes away shortly after application. Nothing much, acceptable to me.

I can't say that everyone would like this because well, everyone's different. I've yet to see a product that is 100% loved by people. This one usually retails for $39.90 if I'm not wrong but during the Watsons sale, this goes for just $29.90. One bottle will last you for about 3 months or so with daily usage as I'm only about 1/3 through with mine. (Alternatively if you're still not a Watsons member, Guardian will do too :) Use Passion card!)

***UPDATE***

I'm sad to say, this product is no longer of use to me. Initially, I had just finished my doctors medicine so I wasn't prone to breakouts at all. I also didn't know that this product was causing me to have oil seeds and zits till I was experimenting with another serum and realized my breakouts stopped. I have now stopped using it as it is not suitable for my skin. Ratings have been edited.

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Almost instantly absorbed.)
So... I've reviewed a chocolatey face mask, a delightful shower gel and a yummylicious shampoo. Now here's a review of something you can actually EAT. Kind of ish. I don't really mean for you to gobble the entire product down though. I'm going to be reviewing for all you lovelies today, a tasty lip scrub!

SLIGHT OT HERE. Because I've entered a singing competition, will you lovelies help show a little support by voting for me here?

https://apps.facebook.com/likeperformingsonysg/contests/294794/voteable_entries/60875588

I know it isn't the best singing ever and admittedly I let my nerves get to me as I was alone and the only one singing in Mandarin. Give a little vote for my courage as I went there on a whim! Every vote means a lot to me (Yes I know this isn't the president elections) but because you need to be within the top 15 voted entries to have a shot at the finals, gimme a lil help!

Back to the yummy treat for your lips!

It's the Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub!

Comes in a little glass pot that I personally find to be adorable. Still convenient to carry out due to its size.

Why is it tasty? Because the main ingredient is Castor Sugar. Plus the Vanilla Extract and Peppermint Oil, this really does smell like Mint Choco(Non existent chips)!

Here's how you use it. Now before I purchased this, I actually read online that some people actually scoop out a ton of product to use on their lips. I find that I have no need for that. I'll tell you how I do it later. In the mean time, here's what the product looks like.

It's slightly yellowish and looks packed with sugar. Guess what? It is! But it isn't all just that, you can feel the slip in it so it's actually easy to pick up the product without the sugar falling all over the place due to all the oils in it.

Just gently press your finger(s) on the product and you'll be able to pick up some!

Imagine the back of my hand is your lips okay. You basically just smear it all over.

Lush SG says :

"Our fabulous lip scrubs are here to keep your kissers sweet. When you use Mint Julips, you’ll find yourself craving a bowl of mint-chocolate chip ice cream. It’s made with refreshing peppermint oil, which will make your lips feel soothed and tingly, and sweet vanilla extract to lock in moisture and protect your lips. Simply rub it over your lips when they’re feeling the need for some sugar." - Taken from Lush SG Website HERE.

So for this, I don't immediately start scrubbin at my lips after getting some product on my finger. What I do is that I usually smear till my entire lip is coated in it and let the oils soften my lips a lil bit. Then I place a tissue near my chin to catch the sugar fall outs. You can skip this step if you're doing it in the shower. After the tissue step, I start to gently rub in circular motions from the outer corner of my lips to the center. After the circular motions "massage", I just slide my fingers left and right on my lips for one last scrub. Then you can eat it off. Yes it's edible, it tastes sweet. The SA at Lush told me to eat it off too so basically this product will come in handy when you're out as you don't have to wash it off. Just scrub, lick and eat.

BUT. I am sorta OCD about not eating ANY lip products. I love the looks of lip glosses and lip sticks on my lip but I am super careful about not eating them by accident. I never ever lick my lips when I've a lip product on. Same goes with this product. Plus I'm not so keen about eating my own lip flakes, even if they're sweet. So I wash it off. I know that most people are fine with eating this product though so no worries for you as long as you're not like me!

This product helps if your lips are not extremely/severely chapped. It'll get rid of those tiny lip flakes but not the major ones. So to conclude, it'll help on the slightly bad lip days. It also plumps up your lips a little after using and I suspect that is due to the Peppermint oil. Lips feel soft and moisturized after the scrubbing session but I must warn that your lips will dry out if you do not follow up with a lip balm. It's the same with exfoliating your face. After removing the dead skin, you must protect the "fresh/raw" skin! Okay bad example but idk what else to call it.

Moisturizing factor : ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ (Helps plump and moisturize but only lasts awhile w/o a lip balm.)

Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Can you tell? I LOVE MINT CHOCO!)

Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Works but not for severely chapped lips.)

Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (I quite like this product, but I know that you can DIY such a product yourself just in the kitchen so it isn't a must have.)

A little pot will last you for a long while, despite that fact that it only has 25g worth of product! It isn't a must to own, but I'm a sucker for nice smelling stuff. A 25g pot will cost you £5.25 in the UK and 20SGD in Singapore retail outlets. Once again... The price increment is... I would say acceptable for this product but wait till you see the shampoos/conditioners.

TBH, many people consider Lush to be already expensive in the UK, as seen in most blogger reviews, UNLESS, sponsored by Lush. However, consumers aren't usually sponsored are they? So in SG... It's even more expensive :/ But then again Lush products are more of luxury products that you can do without so I am assuming that the people purchasing are usually okay with indulging.

Love,
Disclaimer : I bought this with my own $$$! (Yes I'm one of those who tend to have impulse purchases T^T But not always okay!)

Sorry for not posting for nearly a week. Was working and had two jobs on a certain day too. Shag TTM. My back was breaking to the point that I couldn't bend it yesterday so I took a long rest and here I am, all recharged and ready to blog!

Today, I'm reviewing a shampoo that I've purchased and it's from.... Lush. Lush has like really uniquely scented products so I'm actually quite into them for the moment :x IMPULSE PURCHASES ANYONE?

Ta dang! Lush Curly Wurly! Do you like coconuts? I love eating and drinking their juice... But on my hair? Never thought of it till a really pretty and nice SA, Felicia, from Lush SG gave me a sample of this shampoo. I asked for something that smells more pleasant and will help rid the frizziness of my hair.

A pretty fat tub that contains 220g worth of product.

Well as the name suggests, it was sorta created for peeps with curly hair. However, Felicia said that you don't need to have curls to use this shampoo for it'll help moisturize and nourish your hair, thus somewhat taming the frizz as well.

Here's the ingredients list for those of you who can understand.

As mentioned in the picture earlier on, this shampoo is indeed stuffed with coconuts. In fact the texture of this product is unlike most of your liquid shampoos. This actually feels solid and you can grab a little ball of product with your fingers. It's squishy though so it's like... You just gotta feel it to know it.

Lush SG says :

"Absolutely gorgeous, preservative-free coconut and vanilla shampoo to calm curls and tame tangles. Curly Wurly makes thick, unruly curls behave. It’s bursting with nutritious coconut and heaps of natural butters to help nurture dry hair and eliminate frizz." - Taken from the Lush SG website HERE.

What do I think? Well, what do you think? I bought a tub of it! To be honest, it did smell a little overwhelming in the pot when I took a whiff. But because of the sample given, I took it home, shampooed in it and had coconuts floating around me all day. It leaves a tasty coconut scent in your hair that lasts for nearly the whole day and you just feel so delicious lol.

It really moisturizes your hair too because when I washed it off, I could feel the softness already! I've read a lot of reviews about how some dislike this shampoo due to the coconut bits getting stuck in their hair. Problem easily easily solved. I used Lush American Cream conditioner with this and all the coconut bits just washed away. I guess some people are too lazy to condition but for hair like mine, one day without conditioning is just asking for trouble. Also, to make it easier for this shampoo to lather well, I recommend spreading the product evenly in your hands then mixing with water to lather on really wet hair.

The two things I hate about this is the packaging and the price. I'd much rather squeeze/pump shampoo out from a bottle than gouge it out with my fingers. I understand that this shampoo probably wouldn't ooze out easily like the usual liquid shampoos due to the desiccated coconut but then again, the desiccated coconut doesn't serve much purpose so why not get rid of the coconut bits and put this in a regular shampoo bottle? Oh dear Lush, please consider as I'm not the only one hoping for that.

The price... It's only £9.75 if you get it from the UK... About 20SGD? Whereas if you were to get it from Lush retail outlet in SG, it's 34SGD. I have a job, I spend somewhat wisely, so I can still afford a $34 shampoo to indulge in. But as a staple..? I'd probably have to consider quite awhile. Nevertheless, I've bought my bottle and I've been using it daily, so most likely, I'll repurchase.

Application : ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ (Mafan ah! Doable but just inconvenient.)

Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I like coconuts. BUTBUTBUT, would still prefer other scents!)

Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (It works well, it smells great, but price y u so high?!)

For now~ *Coughs*

I will be scheduling a series of Lush reviews as I've been completely in love with some products from them such as this one! The previous one not as much but this one's great :D

I actually meant to do the shampoos first cause I didn't want them to clump together but this one's limited edition. So I'll be doing this first of course. Otherwise how can anyone get it if it's no longer available?!

Presenting~~~ The Lush Twilight Shower Gel!

It's a lavender shower gel with a twist!

Contains very fine shimmer particles. Not sure if you've spotted it in the first picture but I've taken a bling bling one in an attempt to emphasize the sparkles.

See plenty of white spots in there? Those are actually the shimmer particles suspended in the shower gel.
Lush SG says :

"To our Twilight Bath Bomb fans, we heard your requests. Here it is, a Twilight shower gel, so you can lather up in iridescent purple lavender and tonka bubbles. If you haven't smelled this fragrance before, you're in for a treat! It's slightly sweet with the perfect herbal balance. Wonderful to use in the evening before bed, especially on cold, winter nights. Dreams do come true!" - Taken from the Lush SG website HERE.
My say :

This smells really really amazing. For those of you who like PURE lavender scents only, this is not for you. As I've mentioned, this is a lavender shower gel with a twist. I think it's because of the tonka absolute, thus adding a really sweet note to this shower gel. The description says its only slightly sweet but to me, it's quite overwhelming. Like 50% lavender and 50% tonka sweetness. It'll hit you the moment you flip the cap, in a good way for me at least. It's pleasantly sweet to me, along with that slight soothing lavender scent to relax your mind.

I use roughly about a 50 cent coin amount and it lathers easily to cover my entire body. It comes out as a beautiful deep dark shimmery purple liquid. I wouldn't say it really looks like a night sky but it's fun to use. I mean, ITS SPARKLY. And it washes off completely so no worries there on turning into an Edward Cullen. If it stays on your skin... You're probably not very clean D: I think. Cause mine washed off effortlessly and completely.

Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I love this scent, but not my no.1 scent~)

Ease of lathering : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (I'd say average, not extra foamy or dry)

Pretty-ness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Weird point to evaluate but not all shower gels are this pretty!)

Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I love it, it's only available for Halloween and I'd indulge in a lil bottle!)

This costs £14.95/500g if you get it from the UK, which converts to roughly slightly above 30sgd? However in SG... It costs $54/500g. Sad TTM. However like I've said, as it's only available for Halloween, I think it's okay to spend $17 for the 100g one and enjoy a little. Use it for days when you feel like you need to pamper yourself. If you're super rich and willing to spend, this wouldn't be a problem for you!

XOXO,
