Product Review : Maybelline Eyebrow Pencil By Eyestudio in Brown

You all have to love me for being so punctual in posting nowadays! Okay in all honesty it's just because I blog during midnight and  schedule for 10am so everyone can read when they're awake! I've not blogged about brow products for a really long time because I like to stick to the same brow stuff :D

HOWEVER, FEW DAYS AGO, my brow pencil died. It ran out of juice so I had to get a new one. Then it struck me, I had a Maybelline one stashed somewhere! So I dug it out and here it is!

Ta da! It's like a color pencil :X Kinda retro but cute.

Can you imagine yourself doodling on brows with this pencil? :D

Top - Swatched Lightly

Middle - Swatched with Zig Zag Motions

Bottom - Swatched heavily

Swatches! As you can see, it's a pretty dark chocolate brown. Once again, this had a slight reddish tint to it, similar to my previous Lioele Artist Auto Eyebrow in Natural / Light Brown. On hand, this seemed like a pretty blah brow pencil. It didn't look very pigmented so I thought that was good because I am safe to doodle as I please on my brows without worrying about becoming...

UNFORTUNATELY, I was very wrong. I tried to be light handed already but this is what it looks like...

See the huge difference? I swear I tried my best being light handed but I might be a lil too used to my less pigmented brow pencil. Heed my warning, you need to be super light handed with this on your brows. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your own preference as there are also people out there that love a good pigmented brow pencil. This pencil glides on super smoothly which is why some of us might go overboard with it. A light touch will do the trick and define your brows nicely.

Now what do I not like about this product? The fact that it does not come with a spoolie attached to the other end! If you can see from my naked brow picture, I have quite a lot of brow hair. Is that what you call it? So basically, I really need a spoolie to comb through my brows and tame them. It's like my ESSENTIAL. Luckily I had a spare one at home so it isn't much of a problem. Those who are spoolie-less, please take note :)

All in all, it's a product that's really quick and easy to use IF you can be light handed with it. However my brown hair no longer has any red in it. So I rarely use this now. I might pass it on to Ringo though cause her hair is still the same color. This product is very easily available from any Watsons / Guardians near you. I'm not sure how much it costs though but you can ask Maybelline on their Facebook Page!

Pigmentation: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Super uber pigmented, be careful with it!)

Application: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (A little too easy to overdo.)

Lasting power: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (It will smudge if your brows get oily. Remember to blot gently!)

Overall: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (It's not a bad product but it's not the right one for my hair color now~)

Product Review : Lioele Artist Auto Eyebrow in Natural / Light Brown

I bought this product a few months ago but I can no longer find it on the website. So I'm pretty sure when I bought it, it said light brown but on another site it's called natural brown...

Either way, now you know both names so if you ever wanted to buy this, you'd know!

Here's what it looks like. It's a little long though, not very convenient for chucking in my MU bag but it still fits.

This is just to show you the words. But I'm not sure you can see it. It just says Lioele Artist Auto Eyebrow.

I didn't manage to take a picture of the ingredients list cause I found none on my pencil BUT I found it on another site! Here it is...

Ingredients :

Titanium Dioxide , Hydrogenated Soybean Oil ,Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Mica, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Iron Oxides, Zinc Stearate, Iron Oxides ,Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Stearic Acid, Iron Oxides, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate,Tocopherol, Caprylyl Glycol ,Phenoxyethanol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Hexylene Glycol

And a spoolie on the other! I personally prefer spoolies to the normal brushes because I feel that this combs through my brows more thoroughly?

Personally, I don't think this is a light brown eyebrow pencil at all. Natural brown would fit its color more because I have dark reddish brown hair and this pencil suits me perfectly. Here are swatches for you to judge for yourselves!

The top swatch was done heavily whereas the bottom swatch was just one swipe of the liner. I know most of you would think it's not very pigmented but I like my brow pencils this way. If it's too pigmented, it will be extremely easy to overdo and I'm 99% sure you wouldn't want to end up like...

Which is why I always opt for a less pigmented brow pencil. It's easier to build up color than to remove. But that's only for my brows because I tend to have a heavy hand and I don't want to look like the picture above. It's not waxy or hard for the color to go on, it's just not as pigmented but swatches easily? I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone.

But... What's a spoolie? It's a brush that allows you to comb through your brows to tame them and also to blend!

This pencil is available at John Little Stardust outlets I believe because I've just seen it there yesterday! Secretive.SG no longer carries this though. For now at least.

Pigmentation: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Not very pigmented but relatively alright)

Application: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Easy to NOT overdo!)

Lasting power: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Fades a little if I rub at it throughout the day)

Overall: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (I quite like this but it would depend on individual preference!)

Product Review : Koji Dollywink Eyeshadow #1 Sweet Dolly (Brown)

Ending work early isn't only just good for me, it's good for you peeps too! Because I get to do more reviews/giveaways/swatches! ( ﾟ▽ﾟ)

This Koji Dollywink Eyeshadow in #1 Brown is one of my all time favorites. I'm a very neutral person, I love colors but I tend to reach out for this eyeshadow often to do a simple everyday/work look. The compact is really lovely and small/flat that it's really convenient to carry around for touch ups! Not to mention how cute it is too!

See how adorable it is? Too bad my camera ain't good enough to do the product justice. The eyeshadows look a little washed out though and I suppose I have my table's florescent lighting to blame for that. It comes along with a spongetip applicator as you can see in the picture on the right. Sorry that mine's used because I used it to swatch the colors!

There're four colors in this palette and here are the long awaited swatches!

The eyeshadows are pretty pigmented and has a buttery soft texture. If you observe carefully, it appears more pigmented on my arm as opposed to Ringo's. I have no idea why so I can't give you all an explanation. Maybe these shadows morph with skin colors? (ﾟДﾟ|||) Since Ringo's paler, the eyeshadow decided not to be so contrasting on her pale *ahem ghostly white* skin? Nevertheless it's probably a good thing because that means it can show up on most people!

Once again don't let the swatches fool you, it's probably my florescent lighting that made them look somewhat frosty, especially the highlight color. I personally love the highlight color as it's soft enough to use as a cheek / brow bone / inner corner / cupid's bow highlight. Me love multi-tasking products. All of these are super creamy and lean towards being more warm. I'm not saying that cool toned people can't use this, hell I think it looks great on everyone and everyone should buy it!

In Singapore, this product can be found in Watsons but it's rarely in stock as it's quite loved by a lot of people. It retails for $32.90. Super awesome! If you can't get it in Watsons, you could (if you have) as your friends living in Japan / travelling to Japan to get one for you. It's worth it.
