Product Review : VOV Daily Fresh Mask in Ice Aloe, Sake Nori and Sakura Honey

Hello Domokies! Long time no review :/ But but I've been hardworking and taking piccies so I suppose more will be up soon~

For now, I'll be sharing several masks reviews with you, starring the Daily Fresh Masks from VOV. Do note that as I'm compiling 3 different masks reviews in one, it will be quite picture heavy.

First up, the VOV DFM in Ice Aloe.

Basically this is just supposed to be a hydrating and soothing mask. We all know the properties of Aloe by now don't we?

Here you can see how to use it. I personally leave my DFM masks on for 20 minutes. Do take note that this mask contains alchohol and fragrance so if you have sensitive skin you might wanna be more cautious. I did not experience any stinging sensation whatsoever and the fragrance was just a light floral scent.

The mask comes with the eye flap thingy so it's a bonus that you don't have to use a separate eye mask? The mask fits almost perfectly on my face, except for my bulbous nose :(

If you wanna continue surfing the web like me, you can always just fold the flap downwards like so.

Here's a picture of the serum from this mask. It is very thick and gel / jelly like. Upon contact with skin + rubbing / massaging, the gel like consistency becomes watery and absorbs fully into the skin without any sticky or oily residue.

L - Before / R - After
Skin felt soft and smooth after usage. The leftover essence was easily massaged into the skin and as mentioned earlier, no oily film or residue. No stickiness detected either. However, the skin around my cheeks felt a little tight. I am unable to explain why but my skin did not feel dry or agitated. Tight feeling disappeared after following up with my usual skincare routine.

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Absorbs quickly)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (It did what it was supposed to, just a star off for the weird tight feeling.)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (A very acceptable scent, neither extremely appealing to me nor overwhelming.)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (A decent mask for almost all skin types, not sure about those with sensitive skin though.)

Now for the Sake Nori Mask.

Basically a brightening mask!

*Not sure if this is true but I've once read that sake agitates those with sensitive skin. I however do not have that and thus am unable to confirm for you.

L - Before / R - After
I apologize that my pictures do not do this mask justice :/ If you can see, the lighting for both seems a little different and I am still working on it. This mask in reality made my complexion brighter, softer and smoother! If I'm not mistaken, my dark eye circles are a little less red / puffy? The serum for this mask is the same as the aloe once so I'm not going to repeat the picture. The absorption rate is also the same as the aloe one, with no sticky or oily feeling. The scent is also something floral... (What a relief cause I ain't no want my face smelling like sake :/)

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Absorbs quickly)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (I love the brightening effect :D)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Floral is too meh for me.)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (It's quite a good mask! Worth a shot.)

And lastly, the Sakura Honey one. I was most excited about this one due to the beautiful pink packaging!

Sooooo pretty and girly and appealing!

Mask shape is the same for all "flavors" in case you're wondering.

A different texture for the essence! This one is a little more runny than the previous two masks but still quite thick.

L - Before / R - After
Love this brightening and soothing mask! If you squint at the picture, you'll notice a little spot on my left cheek. It's alot less red after using this mask and face was brighter! I personally felt that this was even more moisturizing than the previous two masks as it took awhile longer to sink in and my face felt more... Nourished. I was hoping for a sweet honey kinda scent but sadly, this is once again floral. I have nothing against floral scents! I just prefer fruits~

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Absorbs well but takes a longer time to sink in completely.)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Brightening as well as soothing.)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Floral again...)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Y)

SUMMARY

I've always loved the VOV masks even before I was sent these for reviewing. I'm however guilty of purchasing only the fruity ones like the Strawberry / Tomato / Grape(Am not sure if it's called grapes, forgot alr). I super heart the strawberry one in particular because it smells sweet and amazing~ Recommended if you're a fan of sweet fruity scents. I was also sent a pomegranate one to review but I didn't have time to use it till the 7th month and honestly I'm a lil afraid of taking pictures of myself in case something (someone) else shows up.

Out of these three I've reviewed, I'd recommend getting either the Sakura Honey or the Sake Nori one as they're more unique and they hydrate my skin as well. I prefer my masks to have a whitening / brightening effect as my complexion is always dull. The aloe one is probably more for people who want to soothe agitated skin only.

These are available at Watsons for $2 each and they come in 15 types! So choose according to your skin's needs :D

P.S. You can find their FB page HERE! Also, they'll be having a buy 5 get 1 free promotion at Watsons from 15-28 August!

Love,
Domo ❤

Product Review : Grace Plateau Salvia-Root Illuminating Facial Mask

Hello my Domokies! Once again it's been awhile since my last review~ I still have a peach range review coming up and I've yet to do the Nishino Kana inspired look! All in due time :D

And as all of you know, I have an obsession with masks. They make your skin look and feel good. Simply adore them, just that they're a bit of a hassle to do at night! Despite that, I still try to mask twice a week. Today, the mask I'm sharing is the...

Doesn't the summarized points sound good?

Okay seriously, if I read this mask description, I'd be really tempted to purchase it just to test how good it truly is. Plus, take a look at the ingredients list.

It's as though the mask is packed with a whole lot of awesomeness and it's just not possible for it to fail.

For me, I did not soak it in warm water because the weather wasn't very cold that night. I did not wipe off the excess liquid after using too. Instead, I massaged it into my face and let it absorb.

Here's what it looks like, pardon the messy hair, I just took a shower. This is the second time I'm using a mask with the eye flap thingy.Probably, all of you should lie down, chill and take a short nap with this mask. If you need to do some work, you can choose not to cover your eyes.

In terms of fitness, this is the FIRST mask that really covers my entire bulbous nose. Yet at the same time, it's slightly too big at the mouth area for me. Other than that, this is a pretty big mask and it's pretty safe to say that it'll completely cover everyone's face? UNLESS yours is the extra huge kind?

The essence of this mask is thicker than usual, more viscous than that of other masks I've tried. It feels almost jelly like and initially I was afraid of it being too "heavy" for my face to take in. It makes the mask slightly more slippery than others too.

L - Before / R - After

I have to say, the difference is not so obvious in the pictures because sometimes my wonky camera just does that. In reality, my complexion was really brightened. In my own mirror, I could see a smooth radiant complexion even though I was about to go to bed. My face still looked radiant when I woke up in the morning. The best part of this mask is that it really makes my face so moisturized and soft! The downside for me is the ginseng like smell, not a fan of TCM scents! But then again the main ingredient of this mask IS the TCM so you don't have a choice if you want the good stuff~

Strangely, despite the thicker essence, this absorbed well into my face. I personally wouldn't recommend wiping the essence off because... Why remove the goodies from your face?! Of course, this is up to your individual preference.

This mask is available in a pack of 10 pieces for $29 at Guardians ONLY. I'm prolly going to get it once I finish my tons of mask because, I like it. Simple as that! They have other variations too, I wish I had the sheep placenta one =/ Gonna check check check it out!

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Absorbs strangely quickly despite its jelly like texture.)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Loving it~)
Scent : ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ (Me no likey TCM > o <)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (One star off for the scent and one off for the slightly more expensive pricing. Other than that it's all good!)

Also, remember to like their Facebook Page for more updates AND promotions!

Love,
Chiharu ❤

Product Review : Naruko Apple Seed & Tranexamic Acid Soothing White Mask

Hello my Domokies! Long time no a proper review~ Have been prepping for some stuff and somewhat occupied this week. I'm currently sipping away at a packet of ChocoMarvel because I'm having my cramps now. I'm finally safe to use new stuff on my face so on this particularly tired day, I decided to slap the Naruko Apple Seed & Tranexamic Acid Soothing White Mask on my face.

I wanted to use it since a long time ago but I couldn't as my face was having its down moments.

FOR THE STRANGEST REASONS, I CANNOT FIND THIS ON THE NARUKO SG SITE ANYMORE. So this is the most I can provide.

The instructions if you can read Chinese, otherwise thank goodness for the picture tutorial but I'm sure most people know how to use a sheet mask!

When I first tore the packet open, I was slightly disappointed. I was expecting some fresh and crisp apple scent but it never came. In fact, it smells as though it is fragrance free? I'm not sure as I did not receive the box and the website doesn't seem to carry this anymore.

However, I was pleasantly surprised when I touched the mask. It felt really soft and the material felt sooooooo thin on my face! Yet it manages to soak up most of the essence and not drip them all over me?

This mask is really really gentle because you can even cover your eye area with it. With this mask I like to just take a really short 15-20 minutes nap with it on. However if you're someone who needs to do your homework / work, you can peel down the eye pieces thingy and continue with your work!

On a side note, the mask material is so wonderfully fine and thin that I can see through it xP I absolutely adore such a great quality cloth!

L - Before / R - After

I think the difference is pretty obvious correct..? No photoshop to fake results okay, I took these pics in the same lighting! I used it because my skin was in a super dull state after make up so now that it has restored my skin's radiance, I can put make up again and still look fresh!

This mask is suspended in a clear essence too.

The down side is that it takes a whole lot of time to absorb. This is a really moisturizing mask and it works great on my skin, IF I give it enough time to sink in. That means a few minutes of massaging and patting it in. I do think that the result is really worth it as my skin felt so soft and plump after using. Like the toing toing / boing boing kinda feeling ya know?

The mask soaks up so much essence that it's still so wet after 20minutes! I LOVE the shape of this mask. If you look at the photo of me using it, you can see that it's like a 95% fit for my face. Just extend the nose area a lil bigger and it'll be perfect for me! I did not have to stretch the mask or do anything uncomfortable, it just settled on my skin like a second skin. (Sounds disturbing but it's just an example)

In all honesty, I jumped to my laptop and went to the Naruko SG site to search for this mask but I couldn't find it. I was devastated because I really did like this mask. WHERE DID IT GO? I have no idea. But if it's available, I'll definitely be buying this!

Texture : ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ (A little hard to absorb at first)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Absolutely and madly in love with it.)
Mask shape : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (A near perfect fit for my face!)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (One star off simply because it takes a little time to get it all in.)

I WANNA PURCHASE IT WHERE DID IT GO? :( Okay but I do have quite a handful of mask, so maybe by the time I finish my own mask supply, this mask will magically appear on the Naruko SG site once again?

Love,
Chiharu ❤

Disclaimer : Naruko SG sent two pieces of this mask to me for reviewing purposes! Results may differ with individuals and I am just sharing how this mask performed on me.

Product Review : Bihada Ichizoku Kurobarakamen Sheet Mask (Brightening)

Mask mask mask. In the end I always have reviews on masks. Why so?! I just like to pamper my skin often and feel like a tai tai. Or at least for my skin to feel like a tai tai's skin anyway. For my non mandarin speaking readers, tai tai means something like a rich lady who can sit at home and do nothing all day. Pardon me if I sound a little eccentric in my post today because I'm feeling woozy from low blood sugar or something. Can't eat at night if you wanna avoid the fatties!

Anyway, today I'm going to be reviewing a mask that I bought quite awhile ago and forgot to blog about :X I have too many folders so I must have missed this one.

Behold, the Bihada Ichizoku Kurobarakamen Sheet Mask! The name's really a mouthful ;) The picture is a little misleading though, initially I thought this was an eye mask. So all, please take note, this is a face mask :D

How can I forget? The description, how-to-use and most importantly, the ingredients list for all sensitive skin babes!

If you are from Singapore and reading this right after I publish it, I shall warn you now about the scary picture you're about to see.

Brace yourself for the impact!

YES IT IS A SHEET MASK THAT IS BLACK! It's not a big deal because Ringo reviewed one HERE too but it's the first time I'm using a sheet mask that's black in color~  Also she took her photo in the day but mine's at night so it's horror factor +10.

Instead of the usual colorless essence you get in a mask, this one's slightly yellow.

Bihada Ichizoku says
The secret behind Kurobara's mysterious, alluring beauty! Sparkle like a gem against the midnight sky with this black sheet mask, formulated with charcoal to hydrate skin and tighten pores. Reveal brighter, fairer, translucent skin.

Bascially, this mask is for brightening. So ya ready to see the effects yet?

L - Before / R - After

The lighting is slight different even though I took both pictures in the same place with the same conditions. No photoshop was used to enhance the effects. No lies. Brightening, it is definitely there. My skin felt more plump and bouncy after the usage of this mask. So if you're talking about results, sure you'll be getting it. This mask also contains hydrolyzed collagen and that makes it easier for your skin to absorb the goodies! It's an awesome ingredient. Honestly though, I'm not an expert in every single ingredient so if you want a really thorough description on each ingredient, I'm afraid google will have to be your best friend.

The down side? I really don't like the smell of this mask. It was a little overwhelming when I had the mask on. Luckily it doesn't linger after I remove the mask so I just have to endure 15minutes of the smell. The mask is also slightly too small as it cannot cover some areas of my forehead. It could just be because I have a big forehead though. Preference of scent differs with everyone so maybe some will like it? It's a strange floral smell that I didn't quite like.

This mask is soaked and dripping wet with essence when you use it. So there will be a lot left on your face after you remove the mask and it takes quite a long time for the essence to be fully absorbed. Your skin will also feel pretty sticky while that is happening. You have to wait for everything to be fully absorbed before you can feel the smoothness of your skin and how plump it is.

This mask is also a little more pricey than most. It costs a whopping $8 per piece and is available at SASA and BHG Bugis/Clementi. The question I will present to you is whether you're willing to spend $8 a sheet of mask. I bought this to review but sadly I will not be purchasing it again. I still love my MBD masks, like the Hello Kitty one, the Chocolate truffle one, those are my favorites because of the lovely scent and the fact that they work well!

Texture : ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ (Absorbs really slowly!)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Quite plump and smooth)
Scent : ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ (Me no likey :X)
Overall : ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ (One star off for texture, one off for the scent and one off for the price!!!)

Love,
Chiharu ❤

Disclaimer : I bought the mask myself so that I can review it for all of you <3

Product Review : My Beauty Diary Strawberry Milk Mask (我的美丽日记草莓牛奶面膜)

A really long while ago, I saw it at Watsons. I thought to myself, "Cheh! Make use of Hello Kitty to sell masks!!!" And basically I convinced myself that this was just a marketing strategy to get impulse shoppers like me to purchase cute stuff.

And then few weeks ago, I saw it on Cat's blog. THEN, I HEARD IT CALLING MY NAME. Beckoning to me, seducing me, whispering in my ears... Okay I'm being nutty. If you all don't know, I'm a Hello Kitty fan. I am so going to eat more happy meals just for those HK watches at Mcdonnies! If you also didn't know, I'm a major lover of MBD Masks!

So.

It resulted in me getting.

My Beauty Diary Strawberry Milk Mask. Also known as the 我的美丽日记草莓牛奶面膜 in Chinese. Look at it~~~ MBD + Pink + HK + Strawberries + Milk = PPP (Power Packed Punch)

Evidence that it's from SANRI♡!!!

Let's not forget the holographic security label! Must show off the term I learnt in my diploma, cannot let it go to waste!

Personally, I get really intimidated trying to read the back of the box. Not that I am unable to read Chinese but because there's a lot of words.

Okay let me try to explain the picture. By right, it's trying to give you a visual representation of how the mask sheet works. According to the description and IF I'm not wrong, the cloth of this mask is imported from Japan and of high quality..? It also describes something like... The cloth isn't easily affected by polluted environments... Shaped with some kinda turbo air energy thing?! And lastly I'm sure this is right. It has the ability to adhere comfortably to our skin and provide a high amount of moisture!!!

Ingredients list. According to the description, I believe this mask is to hydrate, even the skintone and to improve skin texture.

Because I am this paranoid, here's the ingredients list again. Please read whichever seems clearer to you!

Also, this wonderful mask comes in THREE designs WITHIN ONE box!

Design one, pink polka dotties.

Design two, white polka dotties.

Design three, my personal favorite because it seems the pinkest and sweetest?

My gripe with most masks? The nose area cannot cover my bulbous nose!!! You can tell I actually have a really big face because the mask isn't enough to cover my forehead properly. I usually conceal my fat face with my hair.

For most of the masks I've used, the essence is clear. This one's a little milky and I like to say that it's because this mask supposedly has milk in it, or in its name at least~

I've already described the problems I face with the mask fitting my face so let's move on to the scent first. I LOVE IT. Anyone drank Meiji Strawberry Milk before? This mask smells like that and it brings back memories! In secondary school, we used to drink Meiji Milk almost everyday. It just makes me miss the time I had in secondary school... It's a really delightful and fragrant scent in short. I love it on my face and it really makes me feel so er... Blessed? The best part about this is that the scent lingers even after you remove the mask :D

Back to the essence, it's milky, plentiful and really runny. In fact, the amount remaining in the packet is sufficient for me to cover my neck, arms and legs! However, despite how runny and spreadable the essence is, it takes a freaking long time for it to absorb fully. This mask requires a lot of patience because you really have to massage and pat into your face or it'll feel sticky. It's like Hada Labo ya know? Sticky at first but really plumps up and hydrates the skin. My face feels darn smooth after using this.

L - Before / R - After

Personally I don't think I captured the difference very well but my face really did get a lot brighter after using this mask! My complexion was less sallow and I looked less ghostly. I've not been sleeping enough recently and that has turned me into a zombie/ghost. Masking really helps. I also just remembered that I've not been eating fruits so I'll be bringing my AFC Japan CHAKARI Fruits and Vegetables to work with me~

Either way, I'm telling you I really LOVE this mask. It's available at Watsons at $16.90 for a limited period of time because this is LE. My Yishun outlet has 5 boxes of this left. Not sure about other outlets! Nope, this is not sponsored and the best evidence of how great this mask is?

I am the proud owner of THREE boxes and Ringo owns a box too! Hers isn't in the picture though. I really advice you to try one box before they're all gone!!!

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Takes a lot of timeeeeee, sticky if not fully absorbed!)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (SO plump, smooth and firm skin along with even skintone!)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (A girl cannot ask for more.)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I would give it 5 stars if not for the fact that it's LE and takes awhile to absorb.)

Love,
Chiharu ❤
