Product Review : Lush Cynthia Sylvia Stout Shampoo

Hello my lovely Domokies! Most of you are probably in Lalaland now but I usually blog better in a quiet environment at night so... Here I am :D With a review.

Now I actually meant to do up a lipstick review but I found these pictures that I edited before changing laptops and since they're with the old watermark design, I'll post them up first.

TODAY'S PRODUCT!

Lush Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo~~~ (I have the 500g one but was too lazy to photograph it again :x)

LUSH SG says

"Condition, body and shine for wavy, fluffy and frizzy hair. Cynthia Sylvia Stout is made with stout beer, which your great-grandmother probably used to make her hair shine. Stout contains protein and gives hair weight, smoothness and gloss. Excellent for hair which goes frizzy in the damp, Cynthia Sylvia Stout smells delicious, like a brandy, stout and lemon cocktail, and even makes curly hair shiny." - Taken from Lush SG website HERE.

*Coughs coughs* I believe you all know how to use shampoo so lets skip this picture.

Here's the ingredients list and I'm actually surprised when I first saw it. I didn't expect stout to be the first ingredient on the list!

Anywayz, here's my thought on this product.

I was given a sample when I headed into the store one day to ask for a shampoo that works on really frizzy dry hair. I took a whiff of this sample when I got home and I was like PHEWWWWWWW. I'm not a fan of stout or any alcoholic drinks so this smelt... Pretty bad to me. I absolutely hated the scent and was super fearful that the scent would linger long in my hair.

Upon using it in the shower, I could finally catch whiffs of the lemon! Also it somehow reminded me of cinnamon. If some of you hate shampoos that don't foam well like *coughs-blousey-coughs*, rest assured that this lathers fine as long as you're not too stingy with the amount you use. While waiting for my hair to dry, I became addicted to the scent :/ Don't ask me why or how but it was less pungent and the scent felt strangely soothing and warm. LIKE CINNAMON! Me likey~

As for the smooth hair part, it doesn't work if I use this without a conditioner. I must must absolutely must use conditioner with any shampoo I use or my hair will be like a haystack. After pairing my conditioner with CSS, my hair did feel smoother and less frizzy. Also, I thought I smelt heavenly :x

Deng deng deng, it comes down to the price again. You can purchase a 500ml bottle of this CSS for a whopping $48 from Lush SG /.\ It's actually only £14.20 if you were to get it from the UK. Given the current exchange rate, it adds up to $28.40. If you were to spree it in, shipping is definitely below $20... So I'll leave the choice up to you whether it's better to wait and get it at a lower price or if it's better to get it quickly to your convenience at a marked up price.

Application : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I personally prefer a pump when I get a big sized shampoo.)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I find it not bad for my hair but hey, get a sample first so you can try :D)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I am strangely addicted to the scent :/ Smells better when it lingers in your hair.)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Actually, it's only 3 and a half stars because of the steep pricing and the lack of pump but that's personal perspective!)

I'm off to schedule another post before I go catch some zzz!

Love,

Domo

Disclaimer : I bought this shampoo with my own $_$.

Product Review : Lush Curly Wurly

Annyeong! Sorry for not posting for nearly a week. Was working and had two jobs on a certain day too. Shag TTM. My back was breaking to the point that I couldn't bend it yesterday so I took a long rest and here I am, all recharged and ready to blog!

Today, I'm reviewing a shampoo that I've purchased and it's from.... Lush. Lush has like really uniquely scented products so I'm actually quite into them for the moment :x IMPULSE PURCHASES ANYONE?

Ta dang! Lush Curly Wurly! Do you like coconuts? I love eating and drinking their juice... But on my hair? Never thought of it till a really pretty and nice SA, Felicia, from Lush SG gave me a sample of this shampoo. I asked for something that smells more pleasant and will help rid the frizziness of my hair.

A pretty fat tub that contains 220g worth of product.

Well as the name suggests, it was sorta created for peeps with curly hair. However, Felicia said that you don't need to have curls to use this shampoo for it'll help moisturize and nourish your hair, thus somewhat taming the frizz as well.

Here's the ingredients list for those of you who can understand.

As mentioned in the picture earlier on, this shampoo is indeed stuffed with coconuts. In fact the texture of this product is unlike most of your liquid shampoos. This actually feels solid and you can grab a little ball of product with your fingers. It's squishy though so it's like... You just gotta feel it to know it.

Lush SG says :

"Absolutely gorgeous, preservative-free coconut and vanilla shampoo to calm curls and tame tangles. Curly Wurly makes thick, unruly curls behave. It’s bursting with nutritious coconut and heaps of natural butters to help nurture dry hair and eliminate frizz." - Taken from the Lush SG website HERE.

What do I think? Well, what do you think? I bought a tub of it! To be honest, it did smell a little overwhelming in the pot when I took a whiff. But because of the sample given, I took it home, shampooed in it and had coconuts floating around me all day. It leaves a tasty coconut scent in your hair that lasts for nearly the whole day and you just feel so delicious lol.

It really moisturizes your hair too because when I washed it off, I could feel the softness already! I've read a lot of reviews about how some dislike this shampoo due to the coconut bits getting stuck in their hair. Problem easily easily solved. I used Lush American Cream conditioner with this and all the coconut bits just washed away. I guess some people are too lazy to condition but for hair like mine, one day without conditioning is just asking for trouble. Also, to make it easier for this shampoo to lather well, I recommend spreading the product evenly in your hands then mixing with water to lather on really wet hair.

The two things I hate about this is the packaging and the price. I'd much rather squeeze/pump shampoo out from a bottle than gouge it out with my fingers. I understand that this shampoo probably wouldn't ooze out easily like the usual liquid shampoos due to the desiccated coconut but then again, the desiccated coconut doesn't serve much purpose so why not get rid of the coconut bits and put this in a regular shampoo bottle? Oh dear Lush, please consider as I'm not the only one hoping for that.

The price... It's only £9.75 if you get it from the UK... About 20SGD? Whereas if you were to get it from Lush retail outlet in SG, it's 34SGD. I have a job, I spend somewhat wisely, so I can still afford a $34 shampoo to indulge in. But as a staple..? I'd probably have to consider quite awhile. Nevertheless, I've bought my bottle and I've been using it daily, so most likely, I'll repurchase.

Application : ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ (Mafan ah! Doable but just inconvenient.)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (It's good to me!)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (I like coconuts. BUTBUTBUT, would still prefer other scents!)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (It works well, it smells great, but price y u so high?!)

On a side note, HERE's a give away that you peeps can consider taking part in. Not hosted by me though!

Cheers,
Domo

Disclaimer : Oh my I've forgotten about this in previous reviews. This shampoo is paid for with my own $$$!

Event : A Hair Makeover at Shunji Matsuo Hair Studio

Hello hello my Domokies! Okay don't shoot me yet :/ I forgot how to use photoshop to adjust the lighting of the pictures SOOOOOO I finally stopped procrastinating and got down to it today! (So don't assassinate me, I'm trying!)

Some time ago, I got invited for a hair makeover at Shunji Matsuo, presented with the option of perming, rebonding, coloring, hair treatment or a simple haircut.

I've actually gotten addicted to bright colors and have gone to my usual hairstylist for my colors so I decided to just get the hair treatment done at Shunji's. Besides, you hair will never die from a few more hair treatments as compared to perm/rebond/color.

Here are some pictures of my hair before the treatment.

If you look closely, you can see a mini helmet of frizzy hair surrounding my head. Here's a close up for those who are unable to see it.

Yea I'm pretty sure you can see all the hair sticking out now. Pardon the color though, this was taken in a toilet with strange lighting.

With that I headed off to Shunji Matsuo for a hair pampering session and here's how their new interior looks like!

Really nicely lit but not glaring to the eyes. Their design seems to revolve around wood and somehow that provides a more calming environment? Better than concrete walls all over imho.

This is their hair dye selection. This will probably explain where all the Shunji Matsuo ambassadors get their crazy hair colors from. There're so many colors! Also explains why they like to change colors, sticking to one is boring :P

Snuck a shot of these peeps doing their hair. I also had a picture of where they do the hair treatment with the steaming thingy but there were people lying there and it was kinda unglam to snap their pics.

I was recommended to try the Arimino Botanical Garderns Treatment for my dry frizzy hair and so that was what I did.

Here's how I look like after, with the color of my hair looking more appropriate with the lighting in the salon.

They blew dry my hair so there were less frizzies.

If you compare this picture to the one before, the hair is very much tamed.

Want to try this for yourself? Head down to Shunji Matsuo :D New fans/customers can register and receive 20% off with a minimum spending of $100~

P.S. I haven't done a post in a really long time, so let me know if you have any feedbacks!

Love,
Domo

Product Review : Fuwarie Airy Curl Keeper

If you've liked Domokie's FB page, you'd know that we actually promised to do a review of the Fuwarie Airy Curl Keeper quite some time ago. It never happened though. Because I'm a simple, average, girl-next-door kinda person. How do I explain it. I don't do fancy hairstyles because I'm someone who's comfortable with my own hair. Just fluff it up a little, a slightly messy look and I'm good to go. So I wasn't sure if anyone wanted a review with a very blah and normal hairstyle.

After deliberating for obviously a super long period of time, I realized that most of us, whether working or studying do not have a lot of time to do our hair. Let's face it, this is Singapore and we'd be happy enough to even get 8 hours of sleep. Majority of the Singaporeans I know would never ever wake up hours earlier just to do their hair. Which is why I've finally decided to put this post up.

Months ago, I bought the...

Fuwarie Airy Curl Keeper! I rarely review any styling products because it's a pain in the ass to wash em off. Ringo uses wax but I find wax an absolute horror. Maybe I'm OCD or something but I do not like to touch wax or hair clay. Anything sticky and icky is a nono.

This one's a hair spray! Means no real need to touchy touchy with my fingers.

Here's how you use it!

And of course, the ingredients list.

Now... I'm about to show you my hair and how I use it. Firstly, I'd like to clarify that of course this can be used to set braids / buns still but it's kinda pointless to use it on those hairstyles since this is a volumizing spray!

It's so long ago that I've not dyed my hair in this picture =/ My hair is curled, so it doesn't look as long as it is. However when fully straightened, it reaches my waist. Okay it's near my butt actually. My point is, with such long and thick hair, it's quite impossible to have fluffy hair naturally. The weight of your hair will just be pulled down with the aid of gravity and you'll get that picture above, pretty dead and limp.

Here's the after picture. I was trying really hair to capture my hair size but the picture still did not do it justice.

Can you see it's slightly more poofy?

What I do is that I'll just spray my hair with my head upside down and scrunch it with my fingers. Then I flip my hair over and continue scrunching it. Once again, I'm quite anal about getting too much product in my hair so this look was done with a light spritz all over. If you want an even bigger hair, add more, back comb and scrunch!

My favorite way to use this is with a ponytail. When I wear my *cough cough* straw hat out, I like to tie a side ponytail or two. It's definitely not nice if it's too neat and limp so this spray's perfect. It's easier to scrunch a ponytail in my honest opinion.

Now about this spray, it does not smell like the "fruity fragrance" that most people have described. Remember, Domokie's 100% honest regardless of whether the product is sponsored or not. This smells just like your average plastic hair spray kinda smell. It has that slight fruity tinge to it but it's really slight. The typical hair spray scent is still there =/ It does not really bother me because it doesn't linger after using.

This is also not your extra hard hair spray. It does harden your hair a little and adds texture to give it that hold. My hair dies down after a few hours though but I'm guessing that's due to my superbly extra long and heavy hair. You can bring this out for touch ups though, the can is cute and pretty light so it's quite portable to me.

This spray is available from Watsons for just $9.90 and I say yes, this is definitely worth your price if you're looking for a hair spray! They have another kind of spray meant for odango(big bun) hair! So choose according to your needs :)

Product Review : Sunsilk Weather Defense Serum

It's midnight as I'm doing up this post, but probably 12 noon when all of you are reading this. Still trying to be professional despite my mood :D So as promised, I'm going to finish this and prepare myself for some awkwardness / hostility tomorrow!

Weeks ago, I attended an event held by Sunsilk SG. In case you haven't read it, catch up HERE! So I actually promised a few readers that I would do a review on the serum but I've been dragging it for a pretty long time! But late is better than never right? This post comes along with a little bonus at the end!

Okay. I know I had TWO of these from the events. And they came with boxes. What happened was that... My mom unboxed the first one and used it. And then she decided to unbox the second one to bring out with her. It's a bad thing because that means I don't have the ingredients list! It's also a good thing because it just shows how portable it is? The packaging is really simple and sleek. You can twist the pump to the right to lock it and to the left to unlock it.

I really like the bright kinda slightly turquoise blue packaging? I'm not sure if I've described it right but you can see it for yourself clearly in the picture!

If you've read my post on dying my hair HERE, you'd know that it's a complete HORROR. I wake up to that horror every morning and feel upset about it.

See how HORRIBLY DRY it is?!!??!! I cannot live without hair mask/conditioner/serum/essence now. Just look at the pathetic state of my hair.

Here's a close up at my ball of hay. You can even see my split ends because I've not cut my hair yet. Doing it soon with my favorite hairstylist, Ken!

Moving on from my hair "depression", it's time to see the serum!

The heart shape is absolutely unintentional. I was trying to focus my camera on it and somehow it just slid around my palms and ended up like that. How would I describe it..? It's a pretty thick serum, less runny than the pink Essential serum. It smells absolutely heavenly, like a sweet fruity scent that I personally believe is appealing to at least 90% of the general public?

Before using, you must rub the serum in your hands and warm it up nicely so that it'll absorb better into your hair. If you have very long and/or thick hair, I recommend for you to section if so that you can spread the serum evenly. Patiently rub it into your hair and let it absorb the goodness. Once fully absorbed, your hands should have no sticky residue!

L - After / R - Before

Can you see the super obvious difference? I only did it on one side so that you can compare the difference. I'm not saying that this is a miracle serum but it does help a lot with my hair. Makes it less frizzy, less wild and more importantly, smoother. I think it's a temporary fix because my hair's a goner after all, it can't really absorb any nutrients anymore.

If your hair is very much alive, or not damaged to the extent of mine, this will be terrific for you! It's also like hair perfume, you'll smell delightful after using. I loved this during my competition at Lunar, it made my hair smell good despite the smokey environment.

And did you know, you can now grab any TWO of these serum for $13.90 ONLY? I'm stocking up, hope I'm not too late to tomorrow!

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Nice and slick, absorbs easily.)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (It's a temporary fix for horrible hair!!!)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (If you've been reading Domokie, you'd know that I adore fruity scents!!!)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Okay, it's 3.5 stars actually, however at the moment it's just insufficient for my hay(hair))

Love,
Chiharu ❤

Disclaimer : I received this when I went for my Sunsilk Event! Still that does not affect my review in anyway and it's 101% honest!

Bits of Chiharu : Artica Hair Studio (Dye + Treatment)

I've always admired Tsuriki because she has hair AND nails sponsors. Well of course, I'm still very thankful to my skincare / cosmetics / health food / beauty supplements sponsors but I can still dream of having a hair and nails sponsor right? Dream only > o < Anyway, I've been wanting to change my hair color for a long time because my roots grew out pretty long already. I was hesitant on dying because I'm going for the SIA interviews AGAIN and I couldn't decide if I should dye my hair back to black.

However... During Artica's 3rd year anniversary, they were on BigDeal.sg!!! The promotion went like this on BigDeal.sg. "68% OFF on Colouring + Protein Treatment + Wash & Blow + 10min Head massage for ALL hair length @$42 instead of $183" Sounds like a pretty good deal right? So I grabbed it after very little hesitation.

And that's how I arrived at Artica.

I was served a....

Cup of milk tea! I love milk tea and I think this one's instant but it still tasted pretty good. But this post ain't about tea .___.

MOVING ON.

I was assaulted with a Book Of Colors. I couldn't decide! My previous hair color was decided by Ken, my usual hairstylist whom I have not visited in AGES. Which explains my ugly black roots :)

Anyway, I had a short discussion with Juno from Artica and he recommended me some-kind-of-a-ash-brown that I decided to go ahead with. It looked mild enough to still go for my SIA interviews.

Voila! My plastic sheet wrapped chicken head! This is after they applied the dye on my head and idk what this is for but I'm guessing it's to... Let the color set in??? But dye is really cold, while they were slapping it on my head I had chills! The milk tea was warm and kept me entertained for a really long time.

Many hours later...

I went to wash it off and I was given the massage! It was short but pretty enjoyable. I have a sensitive scalp and the dye made me itch a little so the massage was such a relief. I also did the protein treatment thingy and proceeded to get a ...

Blow dry by TWO hairstylists. So awesome right? It's like in those movies, everyone attends to you!

L - Uncurled / R - Curled

This picture is really ugly/unglam but I put it up to show how your hair, even without a haircut can help to make your face look slimmer! Juno curled it such that it framed my fat face well, see how the right side looks slimmer???

This is the after hair color in natural lighting!

Doesn't look ashy to me but my hair actually is naturally reddish. But still the color is evenly done and still mild :D It's less bright under normal lighting.

For Artica, the service really is +++. Milk tea, recommendations, head massage, TWO people attending to one and nice blowdry, what more can you ask for??? During my 3 hours stay at Artica, there were many customers flowing in and out of the salon~ Proves how popular they are!

And if you're wondering why there's no full pictures...

:( My hair died. I don't have a hair sponsor so I can't possibly constantly go to salons to save my hair!!! I'm very upset and irritated with it because I have natural curls. Shriveled up hair looks absolutely HORRIBLE with curls T___T I'm guessing that I have no choice but to cut it off.

Till then, I'll be dreaming of hair treatments in my imaginative salon during my sleep.

Hope you enjoyed reading this post and have a better idea of how Artica works!

Love,
Chiharu ❤

Product Review : Ichikami Hair Treatment Essence

Okay firstly, I have a bad piece of news. It would seem my camera is in the ICU now. So posting might be a little slow and I'll be relying on Ringo for now.

But anyhow, today, I've a great deal for my lovelies!

A product from the Ichikami series! Remember the shampoo and conditioner from Ichikami? Yes, cherry blossoms are back to haunt you!

PLEASE, pardon the mess on my table. I really have nowhere left to keep my stuff!

The ingredients list, hope it's clear enough for all of you~

I really like the whole simple black and pink design. The pink's a really soft shade too :)

Best of all? You get a whopping 100ml in the bottle! Correct me if I'm wrong but most hair essence/serum only gives you 30ml. Most, some give 50ml but 100ml is the biggest I've seen so far!

Here's what it looks like! It looks creamy but truly it is a very lightweight lotion/essence thingy that absorbs really quickly into your hair!

Here's what Ichikami says about this essence!

"A rich, moisturizing leave-in type beauty essence that moisturizes and repairs damaged hair cuticles from within, enhanced with long lasting hair protecting properties to prevent further damage. Formulated with Pure Premium Botanical Essences and Squalan to repair and hydrate each and every strand of hair, resulting in smooth, silky hair that slips right through your fingers." - Said by Ichikami but typed by yours truly! Couldn't copy and paste > o <

In case anyone's confused, Squalan is like olives? A form of it anyway and we all know how beneficial olives are to our hair :D

Here you have my naked hair, it looks kinda alright because I've really been taking good care of it!!! It's just a little unruly, a little messy, a little frizzy, a little rough and a little too many little problems!!!

L - With / R - Without

With a little pump of that essence, it has tamed my hair quite a lot. The curls are more defined, neater and definitely smells better! Like I said, my hair slurps it up greedily leaving it shiny, tamed and delicious. Now that's a weird word but the scent of this essence isn't exactly simply floral to me, it's also somewhat sweet and fruity! I ADORE THIS. I wasn't sponsored this bottle okay, I went to buy it after trying a sample and it's just great! <3 In case anyone's worried, this is slightly sticky at first but all you have to do is to rub it into your hair till it's fully absorbed. All will be well then.

Personally, I like using this on wet hair. Did you know that our hair's just like our face? When we leave it to natural dry, towel dry or even blow dry it, moisture escapes along with the water that's evaporating! So we have to use something to coat our hair and seal all possible leakage of moisture before our hair becomes HAY. With constant usage, your hair feels softer and it's easier to comb through with your fingers without meeting any knots~ So yes, it does do what it claims!

Also, I actually didn't plan on scheduling this review first... But when I learnt of this great deal, I had to!

TA-DA~~~ Yes, poor me, I bought it for $14.90 but now you can get it for $9.70!!! I want a backup :D

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Slightly sticky at first...)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Definitely softer and more moisturized, prefer this on wet hair though!)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (BRAVO BRAVO. I LOVE IT)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (It's really not bad! Just one star off because I personally prefer something with a little more slick in it. It's just me though, besides it's a great deal to get it now!)

Love,
Chiharu ❤

Event : Sunsilk Weather Defense Launch

Lack of post because I went for my semi finals yesterday. And I got kicked out. /.\ But let's recall my feeling before I got kicked out, I was really excited for this Sunsilk event!!! I was always checking this range out in Watsons but the testers were MIA as usual and I couldn't try out the serum nor the cream! So I was super glad to be invited to this event :D Thank you TSS and Sunsilk!!!

PRESENTING...

The screen's a little weird because it's not your normal blank screen, it was done on some glass thingy!

Our speaker, Shawn! Or Sean? There's like two spellings for his name x___x Please correct me if I'm wrong but for now I'll just go with Shawn.

Can you see that his hair is tinged with blue? :D (Maybe it's to match the event!)

HAIR FACTS! The only thing I like about humid weather is that it helps our hair grow. -.- Other than that, it's not good at all!!!

The four products! Namely the Sunsilk Weather Defense Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave on and serum!

Caring for her hair, can you spot her satisfied smile? I vaguely remember it might be because the product smelt soooooo good!

He's explaining how we should evenly spread the product on our hair and the benefits of the product!

*Sneaks a glance at her own hair!*

See her super satisfied smile!!! So happy on a Saturday morning~

After using, you'll realize that you can comb through your hair easily! Gets rid of nasty tangles~

More combing.

He shared with us A LOT of tips!

  1. Did you know that if you're washing your hair in very hot water, you're damaging your hair too?
  2. If you use styling products, you're recommended to shampoo twice! (Might clog your hair follicles if ya don't!)
  3. If you want healthier hair, condition hair ends FIRST after wetting hair thoroughly and then shampoo scalp ONLY. When rinsing, allow the foam to flow over the hair ends to wash off remaining conditioner. (Does NOT apply if you use styling products!!!) -> Am currently trying to see if this really helps!!!
  4. Instead of rubbing your towel all over your head to dry your hair, pat your hair dry. Helps in reducing frizzy hair because friction is reduced.
  5. To ensure that your hair's moisture is nicely sealed in, please use a leave in cream before allowing hair to dry naturally / blow dry!
  6. We should always massage our scalps thoroughly because if you've realized, most of us only focus on our hair ends! We often neglect our scalps and that can lead to pimply scalp, dandruff or even fungus! (EEEww. Now that you know, don't ever neglect your scalp!)

And then greedy me helped myself to a huge serving of ice cream. Call me fatty~~~

Had our polaroids taken by the very nice, Shu Yun? Once again I'm not sure of the exact spelling so please correct me if I'm wrong!!!

My new babies! One of the leave on cream went mysteriously MIA and I was super upset!!! I flipped my house upside down but I couldn't find it. I suspect it was actually stolen > o < Oh well, Sunsilk has definitely caught my attention and I now have my eyes on their orange series, for damaged hair if I'm not wrong. I have super damaged hair plus I'm going to dye it again soon! So yes the orange is on my Want list~
