Product Review : Sunsilk Weather Defense Serum

It's midnight as I'm doing up this post, but probably 12 noon when all of you are reading this. Still trying to be professional despite my mood :D So as promised, I'm going to finish this and prepare myself for some awkwardness / hostility tomorrow!

Weeks ago, I attended an event held by Sunsilk SG. In case you haven't read it, catch up HERE! So I actually promised a few readers that I would do a review on the serum but I've been dragging it for a pretty long time! But late is better than never right? This post comes along with a little bonus at the end!

Okay. I know I had TWO of these from the events. And they came with boxes. What happened was that... My mom unboxed the first one and used it. And then she decided to unbox the second one to bring out with her. It's a bad thing because that means I don't have the ingredients list! It's also a good thing because it just shows how portable it is? The packaging is really simple and sleek. You can twist the pump to the right to lock it and to the left to unlock it.

I really like the bright kinda slightly turquoise blue packaging? I'm not sure if I've described it right but you can see it for yourself clearly in the picture!

If you've read my post on dying my hair HERE, you'd know that it's a complete HORROR. I wake up to that horror every morning and feel upset about it.

See how HORRIBLY DRY it is?!!??!! I cannot live without hair mask/conditioner/serum/essence now. Just look at the pathetic state of my hair.

Here's a close up at my ball of hay. You can even see my split ends because I've not cut my hair yet. Doing it soon with my favorite hairstylist, Ken!

Moving on from my hair "depression", it's time to see the serum!

The heart shape is absolutely unintentional. I was trying to focus my camera on it and somehow it just slid around my palms and ended up like that. How would I describe it..? It's a pretty thick serum, less runny than the pink Essential serum. It smells absolutely heavenly, like a sweet fruity scent that I personally believe is appealing to at least 90% of the general public?

Before using, you must rub the serum in your hands and warm it up nicely so that it'll absorb better into your hair. If you have very long and/or thick hair, I recommend for you to section if so that you can spread the serum evenly. Patiently rub it into your hair and let it absorb the goodness. Once fully absorbed, your hands should have no sticky residue!

L - After / R - Before

Can you see the super obvious difference? I only did it on one side so that you can compare the difference. I'm not saying that this is a miracle serum but it does help a lot with my hair. Makes it less frizzy, less wild and more importantly, smoother. I think it's a temporary fix because my hair's a goner after all, it can't really absorb any nutrients anymore.

If your hair is very much alive, or not damaged to the extent of mine, this will be terrific for you! It's also like hair perfume, you'll smell delightful after using. I loved this during my competition at Lunar, it made my hair smell good despite the smokey environment.

And did you know, you can now grab any TWO of these serum for $13.90 ONLY? I'm stocking up, hope I'm not too late to tomorrow!

Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Nice and slick, absorbs easily.)
Effectiveness : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (It's a temporary fix for horrible hair!!!)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (If you've been reading Domokie, you'd know that I adore fruity scents!!!)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Okay, it's 3.5 stars actually, however at the moment it's just insufficient for my hay(hair))

Love,
Chiharu ❤

Disclaimer : I received this when I went for my Sunsilk Event! Still that does not affect my review in anyway and it's 101% honest!

Bits of Chiharu : Artica Hair Studio (Dye + Treatment)

I've always admired Tsuriki because she has hair AND nails sponsors. Well of course, I'm still very thankful to my skincare / cosmetics / health food / beauty supplements sponsors but I can still dream of having a hair and nails sponsor right? Dream only > o < Anyway, I've been wanting to change my hair color for a long time because my roots grew out pretty long already. I was hesitant on dying because I'm going for the SIA interviews AGAIN and I couldn't decide if I should dye my hair back to black.

However... During Artica's 3rd year anniversary, they were on BigDeal.sg!!! The promotion went like this on BigDeal.sg. "68% OFF on Colouring + Protein Treatment + Wash & Blow + 10min Head massage for ALL hair length @$42 instead of $183" Sounds like a pretty good deal right? So I grabbed it after very little hesitation.

And that's how I arrived at Artica.

I was served a....

Cup of milk tea! I love milk tea and I think this one's instant but it still tasted pretty good. But this post ain't about tea .___.

MOVING ON.

I was assaulted with a Book Of Colors. I couldn't decide! My previous hair color was decided by Ken, my usual hairstylist whom I have not visited in AGES. Which explains my ugly black roots :)

Anyway, I had a short discussion with Juno from Artica and he recommended me some-kind-of-a-ash-brown that I decided to go ahead with. It looked mild enough to still go for my SIA interviews.

Voila! My plastic sheet wrapped chicken head! This is after they applied the dye on my head and idk what this is for but I'm guessing it's to... Let the color set in??? But dye is really cold, while they were slapping it on my head I had chills! The milk tea was warm and kept me entertained for a really long time.

Many hours later...

I went to wash it off and I was given the massage! It was short but pretty enjoyable. I have a sensitive scalp and the dye made me itch a little so the massage was such a relief. I also did the protein treatment thingy and proceeded to get a ...

Blow dry by TWO hairstylists. So awesome right? It's like in those movies, everyone attends to you!

L - Uncurled / R - Curled

This picture is really ugly/unglam but I put it up to show how your hair, even without a haircut can help to make your face look slimmer! Juno curled it such that it framed my fat face well, see how the right side looks slimmer???

This is the after hair color in natural lighting!

Doesn't look ashy to me but my hair actually is naturally reddish. But still the color is evenly done and still mild :D It's less bright under normal lighting.

For Artica, the service really is +++. Milk tea, recommendations, head massage, TWO people attending to one and nice blowdry, what more can you ask for??? During my 3 hours stay at Artica, there were many customers flowing in and out of the salon~ Proves how popular they are!

And if you're wondering why there's no full pictures...

:( My hair died. I don't have a hair sponsor so I can't possibly constantly go to salons to save my hair!!! I'm very upset and irritated with it because I have natural curls. Shriveled up hair looks absolutely HORRIBLE with curls T___T I'm guessing that I have no choice but to cut it off.

Till then, I'll be dreaming of hair treatments in my imaginative salon during my sleep.

Hope you enjoyed reading this post and have a better idea of how Artica works!

Love,
Chiharu ❤

Bits of Chiharu : BEST Dim Sum ever!

So far that is.

I mean this stall SERIOUSLY has my favorite Dim Sum ever and I thank my lucky stars that these tasty dishes are nowhere near where I stay. Otherwise I'll definitely become severely overweight.

The pictures may not look as tasty because I didn't really have superb lighting as compared to the Yum Cha Buffet but trust me, it's a lot better!

First up, the classic!!!

These are my absolute absolute favorite, irresistible and IRREPLACEABLE Prawn Dumplings! Or otherwise known as Har Gao. Delicious juicy prawns covered with what the TV always describe as the chewy, QQ, toing toing, boing boing skin! It's not too thick, cooked to perfection and nicely translucent!!!

I will die for these~~~

Fried version of the Prawn Dumplings!!! Once again, a lot better than the Yum Cha one! They are not stingy with their prawns, it's wholesome juicy prawns you get and it's just an awesome burst of juices in your mouth!

SPINACH DUMPLINGS. Ya'all know I hate my greens but this is different. Okay my favorite Dim Sum stall is not for the veggie  lovers. There's only one teensy piece of spinach in this whole dumpling and it's filled with juicy soup??? I think it's soup but I'm not sure, there's a nice flavor to it though. And your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, they're filled with prawns too ~

These are Crystal Chives dumpling, just look at that glossy exterior. The skin for this dumpling is just HEAVENLY. I don't know how to describe this but even chives haters can give these a shot. It's not overpowering, very mild actually, to me.

MY CHILDHOOD FAVORITE!!! I know it looks oily but these are great Fresh Prawns Rice Roll okay!!! But the only problem with this is that it's performance fluctuates. It's still pretty acceptable though and hard to find nowadays in normal dim sum shops. Most shops are super stingy with their shrimps and you usually get like hard dried  up ones. This one's QQ too ;D

I don't know the exact name or location of this shop because I've only always head there and nom immediately like a hungry monster. It's somewhere in Geylang though! I think this stall sells Frog Leg Porridge too but I haven't tried it.

Also, apologies for our lack of posts. It's been not such a good week. Work is rather okay but tiring. My personal life is a little messed up. Seriously I can NEVER have good things happen simultaneously in my life. Something good happens only when tons of bad stuff happen. I try to be professional but sometimes mood really does affect my performance ya know? I wanted to review ChocoMarvel initially but it didn't work. So I shan't blog more about it. My cramps are still bad as hell and it's just unpleasant!

Either way, I'll get better. Maybelline event is on Saturday, see my lovelies there if you're attending!

Cheers,
Chiharu ❤

Bits of Chiharu : I have sinned, for I have hauled.

I think I'm really a loyal Watsons member. I am FOREVER hauling from them!!! Seriously forever.

And today, they had a private members sale! So how did I resist? I didn't. There's a saying that goes something like... If you can't fight them, join them. I joined them!

I swear that this LE DollyWink liner is meant for me. I saw it when it launched at Watsons, I hesitated and resisted because I still preferred the regular version of the liner. The hot pink just clashes with the purple polka dots and overwhelms it? So I didn't get it.

The next time I went there with Ringo, I wanted to get it again. I asked her if I should get this just because it is LE at $25.90 from Watsons or I should stick with the normal version that costs only $20.90 at BlingAlways? Ringo said she wouldn't purchase LE just for LE, so I passed on it AGAIN!

And then finally, TODAY, I saw it. The very LAST one. Going at a super slight discount, $1 off -.- I grabbed it immediately! Not because I'm overly tempted, I felt like it's fate. And it's also today that my current DollyWink liner died on me~

I also got this serum! I used to use L'oreal a really long time ago but gradually, I got bored. So I went around constantly brand hopping till I saw Ringo use this again. She seemed to like it so... I bought it! It was on 28% discount today okay, so I'm like saving myself the other 28% because I bought it today!!! For only $9.80 if I'm not wrong :D

IMHO, everyone should be a Watsons member. But then again, if I encourage everyone to be a Watsons member, everyone will be snapping up the goodies before me T___T

Much loves,
Chiharu ❤

Product Review : Lip Ice Sheer Color in Strawberry and Shimmer

Long time no review! Okay actually it's just been a day. I've a new job so it's harder to post everyday especially when I'm not allowed the use of anything! I do sneakily use my phone but that's it. It's the only thing small enough to use discreetly~

So I'm back with a post on getting nice juicy lips!

This post is going to be lengthy because there's two products I'm going to review :) So sit back, have a drink, relax and read through this post!

I'll be reviewing strawberries first~

This is the Lip Ice sheer Color in Strawberry, formulated with natural beeswax!

The back of the packaging...

Here's the description along with the ingredients list as always!

Box out!

Cap off!

As you can see, it's just a white stick of balm. Seems pretty hard and solid doesn't it?

This is how you tell the Strawberry one apart from the Shimmer one. I swear they look almost identical, you'll see latter!

When swatched on the arm, it appears to be a super sheer pink shade. Seems so blah, so not eye catching, so not interesting. But... Did you know that Lip Ice Sheer Color changes it color according to the color of your lips? So we can't judge the arm swatch! We have to see it on the lips!

My lip's aren't always this bad. Their condition fluctuates with my health. Yes, I'm in poor health lately, stress is building, problems are accumulating and my physical health is failing. Okay I'm being dramatic, I'm not dying, just down with flu. So all of those mentioned leads to me having a set of pale unsightly lips!

Can you see how juicy pink they are afterwards? It's brighter in RL and buildable. So if you want a sheer wash like mine, just apply a nice thin coat. If you want a bolder pink shade, just slap more of it on! This is a sponsored review but I swear I'm loving this. In the past I actually didn't like Lip Ice very much because even though they were specially formulated with SPF, I specifically hated the SPF. I don't like the scent or taste of it which is why I was SOOOOO relieved when this product is formulated without!

I'm really loving the color along with the delicious strawberry scent! I'm seriously madly in love, this color fades like a tint to and does not leave stains on your cup! It's very long wearing and I can so totally imagine wearing this for a classy dinner because it won't embarrass you when you drink~ Stain free :D It's naturally glossy so you don't have to top up any! Well unless you're those that adore extremely shiny and slick lips!

Not only that, it's really really moisturizing~ From sick person to bubbly person! Lips play a great part in brightening up your face especially when you like to do neutral make up like me. All it takes is a juicy pop of color on your lips and you're set to go!

Now randomly moving on to the Shimmer one!

Now presenting the Lip Ice Sheer Color in Shimmer~ Call me sua ku or something but I liked that shimmery sticker so much that I stuck the sticker in my CandyDoll compact =/

The back of it...

The description and ingredients list AGAIN! But they're different okay ;) Read carefully!

See what I mean? It's a totally different picture but the Shimmer one looks exactly like the Strawberry one isn't it?!

Can you spot the slight difference now?

The balm is a pinkish white stick along with some pink shimmers? I can't really capture the shimmers because they reflect light and just appear as white flecks in pictures.

If you own these two balms, make sure you check the sticker label to grab the right color!

Personally, I think that they upped the shimmer factor for this but the glossiness factor seems to be reduced? It's not as glossy as the previous one. It's actually around the same pink shade, minus the glossiness, plus the shimmers. They're once again reflected as white flecks in the picture and I'm sorry that my camera isn't good enough!

This Shimmer one glides on as smoothly as the Strawberry one despite the shimmers and it moisturizes the lip really well too. However... It smells like nothing. I couldn't really smell or taste anything from this. That's not a bad thing for most but I seriously prefer to use scented products? But that's just me, I also happen to prefer gloss over shimmers because sometimes the shimmers stay too stubbornly on the lips!

Also, if you've noticed, I've stopped photoshopping my pictures : | Yes, I'm born with naturally lop sided lips. I don't love my lips, but they're still mine and I have to make do with it!

Overall ratings here!

Lip Ice Sheer Color in Strawberry

Moisturizing factor : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Super smooth!)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Strawberries are like one of my favorite fruits EVER~)
Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Like butter on a pan!)
Color : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Nice juicy lips can be yours~)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Love love love, I've been using this one a lot, will definitely get a back up!)

Lip Ice Sheer Color in Shimmer

Moisturizing factor : ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (Super smooth!)
Scent : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (Scentless, so I'm just neutral.)
Texture : ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Still smooth, just slightly more friction than the Strawberry?)
Color : ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ (I really prefer gloss over shimmer!)
Overall : ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (This one is for those who dislike scents and love shimmers!)

You can get yours from Watsons now for only $7.50 :D I'm getting another strawberry when mine finishes!

Love,
Chiharu ❤

Review : A day at London Weight Management

For all those who googled London Weight Management, I'll have to say that you're so lucky you stumbled upon my post. Because this post will prepare you for all sorts of nonsense you'll have to face there. Also, do take note that I am writing this purely based on my OWN opinion and I do not represent London Weight Management in anyway. You may choose to or not to believe my words. I will also be replacing the names of the actual people with their initials.

Read on to find out more about my experience at London Weight Management. Let's just shorten it to LWM.

One random afternoon, I received a call from a V in LWM. Supposedly, I won a free treatment from them via some  Facebook contest so she arranged for my appointment to be at 7pm at the Woodlands Civic Center outlet. I was also told that I can bring a friend along. Do note that she confirmed for me to get my free TREATMENT on the day itself.

So yes on the day of my appointment, I went down to Woodlands Civic Center. While I was walking there with Ringo, I received a call from V again asking me where I was. Naturally I told her that we were in Woodlands and will reach the outlet soon. Guess what? She gave me a HUH? And told me my appointment was actually in BUGIS instead! Exhibition of poor management 1. In the end she told me she'd transfer the appointment to the Woodlands outlet so we continued our way there.

Finally, we arrived at our destination. Oh you've gotta love what we didn't know was coming. They told us that V only told them 1 person was coming so basically, Ringo came for nothing. Yea she let me go ahead because she's skinny and I'm a fat lump. Exhibition of poor management 2.

We proceeded to a room where a consultant named B attended to us. Mind you we had to wait really long for EVERYTHING. And then after a long while, B told us that another room was available so Ringo can be attended to at the same time. We'll give our experience one by one beginning with mine(Chiharu) because I got started first.

CHIHARU'S EXPERIENCE

I was led to a room to take my height and weight. Then I was told that I'm supposedly overweight. After a quick google search, I'm pretty sure I'm of the ideal weight. But fine, I just look plump so I'll go with the fact that I'm overweight. She then proceeded to make me wait in the consultation room so that she can grab a camera.

While waiting, I snapped these pictures.

Their ampoules.

Strange, peculiar structure with strands of hair

Posters telling people how successful their clients are in losing weight.

Even more.

A food pyramid.

Now at this point of time I was getting seriously bored. MAYBE, they had to go down to Courts to buy a new camera or something, else why would it take so long!!!

Okay, wait wait wait. Just waste my precious time waiting there while I could be reviewing something on my blog. AND FINALLY SHE RETURNED. And then I had to strip down to my bra and undies. We shall skip the awkwardness and move on with my experience. She has kids okay, so she seemed so motherly while explaining to me, telling me my fatty parts where I should be reduced in size. Pictures were taken. Then it all began. No more motherly figure, only sales person.

Sales person who has POOR knowledge. I don't know how many people fell for her explanation but let me reveal the truth. I am someone with irregular menses. So once she heard that, she begin to accuse my irregular menses of being the culprit behind my fats. According to her, menses is dirty blood. So when my menses is irregular and I fail to shed the dirty blood monthly, toxins will accumulate in my body and make me fat, give me darkened armpits and butt. Excuse me, I'm a biology student. So I asked what has that blood got to do with toxins?! She then raised another example. She told me to imagine it like Nasi Lemak. Irregular menses is like eating a packet of Nasi Lemak and not passing it out. Can you imagine my head with the dozens of ??? around it? Furthermore, she told me she had bad skin during her pregnancy because she did not have menses for 9 months so all the toxins are kept in her body.

I'm not going to flip my Biology book and spam you with details but the blood is NOT DIRTY. Sure it stinks but that is because it has come into contact with the oxygen in the air! This blood is actually supposed to be our uterus lining and provides support for the baby, along with oxygen and nutrients if you get pregnant. Also, breakouts during pregnancy is NOT caused by the lack of menses!!! It is because of the hormonal changes during pregnancy! I'm seriously wondering if LWM trains their staff before putting them out. Such an embarrassment to woman because even a quick google search shows that thinking that menstrual blood is dirty is a myth, something only the older generation believe in. People do not be intimidated and fooled into thinking that irregular menses makes you fat okay. Kindly google a little about it so that you will not be tricked.

After NOT clarifying my doubts, she proceeded to force me to buy the treatments. She kept asking me my budget. Telling me there's student price. Telling me this half price promotion is only for today. COME ON LWM, I'm here to experience the treatment I won. Also, I have not tried a single sh*t and YOU WANT ME TO SPEND HUNDREDS/THOUSANDS on your treatments? For goodness sake, even a bottle of expensive serum at Tangs has a tester. If you can claim to guarantee us a loss of blah blah blah cm and blah blah blah kg, why are you so afraid to let us try the treatment first before trying to sell us anything?! So I told her that I at least have to try it out first before purchasing. Her attitude changed immediately. She told me there's no time for treatment anymore because we came late. Hell it was the LWM people that schedule us okay, now you're telling me there's no time? You're awesome.

RINGO'S EXPERIENCE

The service is such a turn off. She arranged another day for me and I went to find Ringo. Now let me relate Ringo's experience to you. Basically, Ringo got attended to by a new consultant. She overheard their conversation telling the consultant to try and attend to Ringo because she's new and need more experience. Similarly, Ringo took her height and weight measurements. The best part? According to their table, she is UNDERWEIGHT. They have no business ethics. She still tried to hard sell Ringo into signing their slimming package. Like what?! So does this mean LWM encourages underweight people to not only continue being underweight but they should slim down even further? My best friend should be reduced to skin and bones?

The new consultant also related a steam room effects to reverse osmosis of a potato. Like what, because our body has toxins and a steam room doesn't, the toxins will reverse osmosis out of our bodies and we will become slimmer and healthier?! Steam room makes you SWEAT. Sweating is like detoxing. Which is why exercising gives you good skin. Not reverse osmosis. Poor knowledge AGAIN.

Ringo was quite peeved already. She hinted to the person that she wants to see the service standards first before signing anything. The person let out a mocking smile. To me it was a mocking smile because she was telling B that Ringo wanted to see their service with a sarcastic tone. No business ethics, poor service, poor management, lousy attitude, what can possibly be worst? Oh Ringo didn't get to try anything either because there was "no time". So yea she was arranged to return the same day as me. We went out of the room and saw this.

Yea, so true. A paying customer totally requires THREE of LWM's people to be sitting down and joking around with her. This is where our "time" went to? They are not free to attend to us because we didn't pay.

Slack, joke around, laugh, use iPhone. LWM has very busy staffs.

Mind you I was not holding a spy cam or anything. My camera can be seen clearly. But then again, we didn't pay so no one gives a sh*t about us.

Our ratings for London Weight Management? It can't even be rated. It has to be the poorest of all ratings. ZERO stars. Let me summarize all the reasons why they deserve ZERO stars.

  1. Poor management
  2. Lousy service
  3. Bad attitude
  4. Hard selling
  5. No knowledge of what they are doing
  6. No business ethics

We are never returning. And for all those who "won" themselves a free treatment, you have been warned. I will be sharing this experience with everyone I know. Needless to say, we never returned for the "free treatment" because we sure as hell do not want to experience ROUND TWO of this. I hope this post will help those who are intending to head down to London Weight Management and not let them be fooled by weird myths.

P.S. We're not the only ones who experienced this. I won't name the bloggers but T and H had a bad experience at the AMK Jubilee outlet too.

Should LWM feel the need to contact us to follow up on this matter, please email to Domokie@gmail.com

Love,
Chiharu ❤
