Product Review: Clinique Vitamin C Lip Smoothie Antioxidant Lip Colour

Feeling a little sickly these couple of days, so I've been loading up on my vitamin C. (Not that it's working out much, since it seems I've already been infected anyway.) On that note, Clinique has a Vitamin C Lip Smoothie that I thought would be perfect for this post, in a vague & tenuous sort of way.

We've squeezed in the best ingredients, like Vitamin C, and powered up antioxidants so lips look and feel their healthy best. Your recommended daily dose of lusciousness. Brushes on luscious colour and shine in juicy, moisture-rich blends.

Coverage: Sheer to Moderate
Benefits: Antioxidant protection, Moisturizes, Smoothes lips

They are available at $17.50 (USD) on Clinique's website, with a range of 14 delicious shades, with names such as Pear-fection, Blackberry Nirvana, Mango-thon and Raisin The Bar. I've got the (relatively) tamely named Pink Me Up as a sample. It's an unoffensive shade of pink with flecks of silvery pearl in it. Clinique's Lip Smoothies are creamy in texture, long-lasting, and not particularly sticky at all. It comes with a brush tip applicator, and an opaque tube casing. There isn't much of a scent at all, owing to Clinique's fragrance-free policy. The colours are saturated, more so than most of the lipglosses on the market. Most of all it doesn't leave your lips feeling flaky or dry, though on already chapped lips it doesn't really go on well at all.

You do have to crank the mechanism by twisting the barrel a good many times before anything comes out though. But thankfully that's only for the first usage. Subsequently 3 or 4 turns should be able to crank out a healthy amount of lip smoothie onto the brush. The only other complaint I've got against this is its opaque casing. Aesthetically, I suppose it is neater not to see the pink glop of mess inside, and perhaps this lipgloss would change in direct contact with sunlight, but still not being able to see how much gloss is left is somewhat bothersome.

All in all though, this is one decent lip gloss. It leaves your lips moisturized and protected, plus it smooths out the lines on your lips. Definitely a good buy!

Ratings
Texture: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (thick creamy texture, not sticky nor oily)
Coverage: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (sheer to moderate, smooths out lip lines)
Saturation: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (pigment pretty saturated for a lipgloss, glitters are light and tiny)
Lasting power: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (decent, though not the best of its traits. lasts about 5 hours)
Overall: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (a really decent product. plus its Vit C and antioxidant properties really sets it apart from others)
