Product Review: Arimino Spice Sisters Soft Wax

Konbanwa minnasan! Yesterday I reviewed the Arimino's Botanical range, and tonight's star shall be the Arimino Spice Sisters Soft Wax. A long time ago, when I could still be regarded as a teenager, I used to think that hair wax are for boys and old uncles with receding hairlines. Boy, how wrong I was then. To be honest I still don't enjoy putting hair wax in my hair on a regular basis, on the reasoning that they make my hair like a greasy dirtball at the end of the day.

But occasionally a product likes this comes along and I'm tempted to style my hair everyday~ Ah, the power of packaging!

Arimino's Spice Range is colorful and fun, something that I would love to display in my immaculate designer bathroom (if I had one). I would then collect the entire range and color coordinate them, even though I wouldn't actually use them. But bahh, enough of daydreaming and back to reality~

We were all given the Spice Sisters Soft Wax, which like its other siblings, come in a matte metallic container that reminds me of burnished chrome silver. The illustration on top is kinda funky. But you can somehow infer that it's for women (duh) with layered hair. Lime green hair optional.

The product description:

Arimino Spice Sisters Soft Wax creates flexible texture and ends with movement. Creates natural texture for layered and short hair. Has a long-lasting hold. With Arimino Spice Soft Wax, your hair can move freely with control. This soft wax provides easy control while being easy to handle. Be able to adjust the natural bundle impression freely, making hair styles last long. Contains a combination of 7 kinds of fruit extract to preserve the moisture effect and fight humidity.

What I like most about this product is its scent. It smells like real green apple juice with that hint of juiciness that makes you wanna impulsively run to the nearest supermarket, buy some green apples, crush them gruesomely and make some fresh apple juice.

Okay, I'm exaggerating, but please do not leave this where children are able to reach them. Unless you intend to poison them.

And here's my hand for scale. It's 35g by the way, a fairly decent amount for wax I think.

Unfortunately, there's no ingredients list for this product. I suspect however, that the list in on the outer packaging. But just look at the pretty typography~

Ignoring my ugly nails, the wax itself comes in a rich and smooth cream, that is easily spreadable and absorbed, leaving your hair tame but not heavy. A little goes a long way for this product. Just scoop a small amount onto your finger, spread it over both palms and work it into the appropriate sections of dry hair. This product, of course, works best on short, layered hair (mine is relatively long but layered), so there really wasn't much holding power for mine. I mostly use it to give my hair more shape, as well as as a hair perfume. It works well for that function, but for those who are looking for a wax with more hold, do consider their other products.

All in all though, this is one product that makes me happy, just on the basis of its aesthetics.

Holding Power: ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Gives volume and shape to short/ middle length layered hair. Don't expect it to give you Dragonball-style hairdos though.)
Lasting Power: ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Decent, but not the best perhaps. Maybe it's the Singaporean weather.)
Scent: ★ ★ ★ ★ (Omgosh love the scent~!)
Texture: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (Doesn't harden your hair, smooth application, doesn't leave hair feeling greasy)
Overall: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ ( 3.75 stars to be exact. Worth a shot, especially if you're particular about the scent.)

Signing off,
Ringo
